Program Description: The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Position Overview
The pharmacy stock keeper will be based in each city and will manage all pharmacy stock issues such as receipt, storage, arrangement and organization, distribution, inventory, recording, reporting, and order.
• Position Reports to Senior Pharmacy Officer
• Location: Kabul
Responsibilities
• Prepare a plan for pharmacy stock arrangement.
• To properly store, arrange, and organize the medicine /Supplies and other pharmacy-relatedmaterials/equipment on the shelves or specified areas.
• To ensure proper and complete receipt and issue of drugs/supplies at the pharmacy warehouse levelaccording to the approved documents.
• Prepare and report the monthly stock balance to the pharmacy officer.
• Selection and prepare order with justification.
• Responsible for preparing Pharmaceutical Logistic Information System (PLIS) reports as per stock.
• Ability to prepare Goods Received Note (GRN), Waybill, and able to use database.
• To ensure that pharmaceuticals are not expired, if it is near expiration should be reported threemonths to the pharmacy officer.
• To make sure that all drugs/Supplies received or issued are entered into the pharmacy database,stock book, and stock card on time in coordination with the pharmacy team.
• Ensure that all pharmaceuticals are regularly supplied to the HFs on approved documents. (Based onthe consumption report and approved documents of the pharmacy officer)
• Being accountable for the provision of approved documents for all pharmacy-related receipts andsupplies/issues (Approved documents by authorized staff without any errors) to report to the linesupervisor for all receipts, issues, inventory, monthly stock reports, and consumption.
• Report discrepancies in amount, type of medicine, and supplies and specifications contrary to theapproved items description.
• Ensure that stock inventory is conducted every three months reports are prepared and shared withthe line supervisor.
• To take preventive measures such as humidity, direct sunlight, and bugs in the pharmacy warehouseand stores in support of the administration team, to ensure the proper ventilation and temperatureof the pharmacy warehouse/ stock.
Qualification Required:
• Graduated from Medical and Science institute
• Registered Pharmacy technician
• At least two years of experience in a similar position and proven experience in the management of a pharmacy stock
Abilities/Skills:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, analytical and
• Communication skills in Dari, Pashtu, and English (preferable)
• Experience working with Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, Word, Outlook Explorer,PowerPoint) is advantageous
