Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

Job Descriptions:

Assist in direct nursing care delivery to patient.

 

  • Assessment of patient including physical examination, head to toe assessment, pain assessment, nutrition assessment, psycho-social assessment, and taking history of patient.
  • Perform vital signs (Temperature, Blood pressure, Pulse and respiration) and weight and height of patients.
  • Provide nursing care to the patient, pain management, food and nutrition care and positioning.
  • Perform resuscitation to critical patients by Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Provide preoperative, intra-operative and post-operative nursing to care to patients.
  • Administer medication by maintaining five rights of medication administration and documented.
  • Apply Nursing Care Process (NCP) and care plan scientifically to resolve patient’s problems.
  • Perform nursing procedures including catheterization, cannulation, NG, OG insertion, wound dressing, blood transfusion, cold and heat applications.
  • Provide patient’s personal hygiene care by bathe, sponge baths, skin care, mouth and hair care, catheter care, backrubs, positioning and perform range of motion exercise.
  • Provide health education to patients and family, also patient health status.
  • Consider patient rights and responsibilities during patient care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy of patient.
  • Through Head Nurse, ensure availability of supplies and equipment for in-patients.
  • Coordinate continuity of care including diagnostic procedure and rehabilitation.
  • Ensure you carry out proper doctor’s order and notify doctor abnormalities seen to the patient.
  • Ensure to maintain infection control and use of universal precautions.
  • Attend and participate in nursing related training and professional developments.
  • Perform admission, transfer, referral, and discharge of patient.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all nursing activities (Vital signs, nursing notes, intake/output, medication, and other events).
  • Any other tasks assigned by his/her supervisor.

Reporting:

  • You are to report to the Incharge Nurse, who can also assign any other responsibilities to you in addition to the above prescribed duties.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Having Diploma in Nursing from MoPH and private institute approved by MoPH, Afghanistan
  • Work experience:  At least two years practical work in a Hospital as a Nurse.
  • To be register in ANMC.
  • Skill: Having effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Language: Fluent in English, speaking, writing, and listening
  • General    : Willing to working in shifts
