Job Descriptions:

  • Under the guidance and supervision of the project technical manager the Sr Pharmacy officer has the overall responsibility of pharmaceutical management in the Herat province
  • Responsible for the efficient running of the medical warehouse in Herat.
  • Conduct on-the-job training on FEFO, FIFO, MDS and RUD-related issues to subordinates.
  • Ensure safe, clean and proper storage of all medicine and other medical equipment within the warehouse;
  • Accurate documentation and calculation of drugs in stock, drugs issued to the health and HPs;
  • Implement and manage a system of stock cards are kept for all items, showing the actual balance in the warehouse;
  • Medical supplies arriving from any destination should be checked against the packing list/waybill and properly stored;
  • Ensure that all goods are sent out from the warehouse to HFs with properly completed waybills;
  • Send all waybills and GRNs to the office of origin quickly and accurately, signing and noting any discrepancies;
  • Physical inventory of medicines quarterly to ensure adequate stocks are available in the provincial warehouse at all times
  • Analyze drug consumption patterns from the HFs reports to develop standard drug supply systems to prevent stock ruptures, misuse or wastage.
  • Ensure expired drugs are separated and kept separate from other stock and the technical manager is notified timely to facilitate its disposal
  • Make periodic visits to HFs to supervise stock management practices and record-keeping

Job Requirements:

  • Registered Pharmacist (Pharma-D)
  • At least two years of experience in a similar position;
  • Good written and spoken English and local languages;
  • Having skills in computer applications such as Excel, Outlook and MW.
  • Proven experience in the management of drug system
