Job Descriptions:

  1. Summary of Key Functions:
    •  The Urban Health Initiative (UHI ) project plans to continue community engagement activities by the community mobilizers at the health facilities which will enable UHI to continue to generate demand and thereby increased utilization of critical health services for community members, particularly women.  
      The Community Mobilisers will more focus to awareness raising, health education, community mobilization and engagement of communities to the health serves. 
      Topics of these community engagement activities include reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health, family planning (FP), immunization, nutrition, diseases outbreak including COVID-19, tuberculosis (TB) and promote community participation and ownership to the health system. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

• Keep community leaders/Wakil Guzars and health facility staff updated about activities and project interventions.
• Contribute to plan and implement community gatherings for increasing awareness and behavior changing at health facility level.
• Conduct mobilization/awareness sessions at the health facility level to increasing community/clients’ awareness on different health topic.
• Keep coordination with community leaders/ Wakil Guzars and community religious leaders for active community engagement and community empowerment/ownership.
• contribute in triage of health facility clients/patients 
• Support and follow up and referral cases for immunization, ANC, PNC, nutrition, delivery, TB, covid-19, FP, to the relevant departments.  

• Follow up uCHWs referral in with coordination of community health supervisors and health facilities staff.
• Keep the community/clients updated about the outbreak of communicable diseases in the targeted health facility and deliver key messages and IEC materials.  
• Encourage and mobilize communities (male and female) in health issues to identify their health needs create demand for utilization of health services at the health facility and health post levels.
• Organize and participate in all project events (practical trainings on collaboration between the local government and communities, consultations with communities, mobilization of venerable people)
 

• Respond and adjust to a flexible activity scheduling, logistical constraints related to public space management, or social dynamics involving the community and its expectations.
• The female community mobiliser will lead conducting of small surveys/data collection by uCHWs to ensure form outcome of the behavioral change activities.
• Assist community health supervisor in uCHWs selection, trainings, and collection of cost share forms.
• Contribution in preparing performance-based incentive sheets and distribution of incentive and top up cards for uCHW.

 

Community mobilisers are conducting awareness raising sessions on hygiene, safe drinking water, vaccine and vaccine preventive diseases, common diseases and IMNCI, Covid-19, TB, common eye diseases, HIV/AIDs, Disability, Mental Health, GBV/Gender, Occupational Health, mother and neonatal care (MNH), Exclusive breast feeding, FP, Nutrition and malnutrition as well as first aid. They are conducting the sessions in the Health Posts area that are within the Health Facility’s operating area that they are connected to. The Health Posts are operated by Volunteer female uCHWs. Core Competencies:

    • Have good communication skills to onboard community members and coordinate with the international Future Makers team;
    • Have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in Dari and Pashtu

Skills and Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of the community health services conducted by health provider
  • Excellent training and facilitation and community mobilization skills
  • Having a deep knowledge of Afghan traditions and cultural norms
  • Ability and willingness to work at the communities
  • Excellent spoken /written Dari and Pushto
  • Ability to conduct mobilization session at community level

Education: 

Degree or Diploma from medical faculty and institutions (Nurse, medical lab technician, MW, public health and pharmacy)-at lease 14th grade graduate from medical relevant departments.
 

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience of community-based health care including community mobilization in the health sector and preferably who have knowledge of Afghanistan health system. 
  • • Deep knowledge of the community health services conducted by health provider 
    • Ability to conduct awareness raising or mobilization sessions for health-related issues at health facilities and community level 
    • Excellent training and facilitation and community mobilization skills
    • Having a deep knowledge of Afghan traditions and cultural norms

 

Languages Skills:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashtu is a requirement. English Language skills is a plus point.
