BRAC is a nongovernmental development organization originated in Bangladesh and currently working in 10 countries in Asia and Africa. BRAC began its operation in Afghanistan in 2002, has been implementing its development programs in education, health, citizens’ charter Afghanistan programme as well as capacity development in the country.
1. Project Implementation and Management:
Oversee the day-to-day management and implementation of Integrated Youth Activities within the designated province.
Ensure the project activities align with USAID’s goals and objectives, and adhere to the timeline and budget.
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of program activities, including youth outreach, training programs, and community engagement initiatives at provincial level.
Manage the provincial project team, ensuring effective and efficient operations.
Monitor progress against project milestones and deliverables, ensuring timely completion of objectives.
2. Team Leadership and Capacity Building:
Provide leadership and guidance to the project team members, including ensuring staff development and training in project management, youth engagement, and relevant technical skills.
Design and implement training programmes for local staff and community members to build skills that are relevant to project objectives.
Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment, ensuring that all staff adhere to the project’s principles and values.
Conduct regular performance reviews, mentoring, and provide feedback for team members.
3. Stakeholder Coordination and Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key local stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, NGOs, and private sector partners.
Work closely with the Team Leader and other project staff to ensure coordination with other project components at the national and regional levels.
Represent the project in local meetings, conferences, and forums to advocate for youth-related issues and the project’s objectives.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
Ensure the proper implementation of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on youth participation, outcomes, and program impacts.
Provide regular comprehensive reports on project progress detailing project outcomes, challenges, achievements and lessons learned to the Team Leader and USAID.
Monitor the quality and effectiveness of project activities, adjusting plans as needed based on M&E data and field observations.
5. Financial and Administrative Oversight:
Manage the provincial budget, ensuring financial accountability and compliance with USAID policies and procedures.
Ensure timely submission of financial reports and documentation for all project activities at the provincial level.
Oversee the procurement of materials and resources necessary for the effective implementation of the program, in accordance with USAID guidelines.
6. Risk Management and Problem-Solving:
Identify potential risks and challenges to the successful implementation of the project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Resolve conflicts or issues arising in the implementation of the project, whether internal or external.
Ensure the project is implemented in a way that is sensitive to the local cultural, security, and political environment.
7. Youth Empowerment and Community Engagement:
Ensure that the project activities are inclusive, with a strong focus on reaching vulnerable youth, including young women, and marginalized groups.
Promote community-driven solutions that empower youth to take leadership roles in their communities.
Lead efforts to strengthen the capacity of local youth groups and youth-led organizations.
8. Gender & Safeguarding
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
9. Any other tasks assigned by supervisor
Strong knowledge and skills on project implementation.
Strong communication, collaboration, leadership and team management skills with the ability motivate others and support a diverse team.
Ability to navigate cultural sensitivities and work effectively in challenging and dynamic environments
Ability to handle high-pressure situations, including emergencies or security incidents, by developing contingency plans and managing staff and project activities during crises.
