Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

To provide Primary health care services for patients in the fixed health Facilities and MHNTs where needed.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability and willingness to travel to all Health Sub-Centers based on project need for health service delivery.
  • As this is back up MD, he will be roving all HFs based on need.
  • Perform emergency first care whenever needed.
  • Provide curative services to patients according to health facility requirements.
  • Support the provision of primary health care within the health facility.
  • Under the direct management of the Health Officer, the Backup Medical Doctor is responsible for the following main activities to ensure the provision of quality OPD services.
  • Dispensing of rational medicine usage to patients in HSC.
  • Provide medicine/medical supply’s monthly consumption reports regularly.
  • Provide all monthly reports according to the HMIS tools.
  • Ensure the patient's triage registration and measurements of viral signs.
  • Perform dressing and provide first aid care to injured patients whenever needed.
  • Considering the needs of patients and writing appropriate prescriptions.
  • Provision of OPD services and community awareness of diseases and vaccines.
  • Maintaining patients' confidentiality and respecting their human dignity.
  • Ensuring that all team members are performing their duties correctly in the field.
  • Dressing and first aid care of injured patients if needed.
  • Record and report beneficiaries or patients regularly.
  • Identify patients in need of urgent care and refer them immediately to the equipped Health Centre.
  • Register patients coming to HSC seeking care in the registration book.
  • Respect IMC standards of procedures for referral and stabilization of patients.
  • Take part in the management of pharmaceutical goods and medical equipment.
  • Accompany patients to the external referral HF when required.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an accredited medical faculty with successful completion of the exit exam.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in BPHS, EPHS health facilities or similar projects, post-graduation.
  • Received Up-to-Date training in Health Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Completion of the full IMNCI training package.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are local residents.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in BPHS, EPHS health facilities or similar projects, post-graduation.
  • Familiarity with the BPHS system.

Competency:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Pashto and working knowledge of English.
