Job Purpose:

The facilitation of child protection activities includes organizing structured psychosocial support and recreational activities for children, conducting life skills sessions, and providing parenting training for caregivers and community members. It also involves implementing community-based child protection programs, such as establishing Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs). Case management support is provided through the identification, referral, and follow-up of child protection cases while maintaining confidentiality. Community engagement is promoted through outreach sessions to raise awareness about child protection issues. Monitoring and reporting ensure the quality and compliance of activities, with timely updates submitted to the Child Protection Officer/Coordinator. Coordination with other programs and local authorities is essential for effective interventions, and all activities must adhere to the organization’s child safeguarding policies while maintaining a child-friendly, survivor-centered approach.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Facilitation of Child Protection Activities:

• Organize and lead structured psychosocial support (PSS) and recreational activities for children, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
• Facilitate life skills sessions, awareness-raising workshops, and parenting skills training for children, caregivers, and community members.
• Deliver community-based child protection programming, including the establishment and capacity building of Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs).

Case Management Support:

• Assist in identifying, referring, and following up on child protection cases, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
• Support in maintaining case records and documentation in a confidential manner.

Community Engagement and Capacity Building:

• Conduct community outreach and sensitization sessions to promote child protection awareness.
• Build the capacity of community members and local stakeholders on child protection issues, child rights, and reporting mechanisms.

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Monitor the implementation of child protection activities, ensuring quality and compliance with standards.
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports on activities, challenges, and outcomes to the Child Protection Officer/Coordinator.

Coordination and Collaboration:

• Work closely with other program teams, local authorities, and partners to ensure effective child protection interventions.
• Participate in relevant coordination meetings and contribute to inter-agency child protection efforts.

Adherence to Standards and Policies:

• Ensure all activities align with the organization’s child safeguarding policies and protection principles.
• Maintain a child-friendly and survivor-centered approach in all interventions.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

It is all staff’s shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. This includes safeguarding from the following conduct by our staff or partners: sexual exploitation and abuse; exploitation, neglect, or abuse of children and adults at risk; and any form of trafficking in persons. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field or 14^th grade graduate from reputable institution is mandatory/ Diploma in child protection would be advantages.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience with bachelor’s and 3 years with 14th grade in child protection or social services.
• Experience in facilitating group sessions, workshops, or community-based activities.
• Knowledge of child protection case management and psychosocial support principles.

Competency:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in Dari/Uzbaki and Pashto, and English is desirable.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children, caregivers, and community members.
• Excellent organizational and reporting skills.
• Commitment to child safeguarding and protection principles.
• Able to deliver training and orientation session in the community.
