Job Description
Prosthetists and Orthotists are health care professionals who specialize in designing and constructing medical supportive devices according to physician prescriptions and diagnose and develop a treatment plan prescription . The Orthotist or Prosthetist evaluates the unique and detailed needs of the beneficiaries to design and fabricate an orthotic or prosthetic device that addresses the needs while also reducing pain ,increased comfort, mobility and stability.
Job Requirements
- Designing and fabricating orthopedic and prosthetic devices based on client measurements and physician prescriptions
- Interviewing and assessing client to identify unique needs and briefing on treatment plans.
- Measuring or taking impressions of a client body to design a brace, artificial limb or other supportive device with attention to physiological function and health
- production of prosthetics or orthotics devices.
- Providing ongoing care and repairing or adjusting devices as treatments progress
- to design orthotics or prosthetics device with the appropriate materials
- Follow-up on patients to see how they are coping with their device.
- Educate patients on how to use, maintain and care for their prosthetic devices.
- Perform regular check-ins with patients to ensure mobility and prostheses functionality.
- Adjust, repair or replace prosthetic devices depending on the evolution of patient needs.
reqiured skills:
- Communication skills to communicate with physicians and technicians on construction and device prescriptions as well as with patients with instructions on how to use devices
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work with precise tools and perform physically demanding tasks including examining patients and working with equipment
- Interpersonal skills to work patiently and empathetically with patients who need additional sensitivity or attention
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to carefully assess patients’ needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
