WDIO is nationally based in Kabul and maintains field operations through five regional offices, with over ninety-seven staff members, located in Kabul, Bamiyan & Logar (Center-Region), Ghor & Herat (West-Region), Nangarhar, Laghman & Kunar (East-region), Takhar & Badakhshan (North-Region) and Kandahar (South-Region). WDIO maintains the departments of Program, Operation, Human Resources Finance, and Procurement. Each department operates according to the WDIO written policies and procedure manuals updated based on the context of the area where WDIO implementing projects.

 

WDIO is committed to applying a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards acts of sexual exploitation and abuse by its personnel. In 2003, the United Nations Secretary-General issued a Bulletin on “Special measures for protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse” (ST/SGB/2003/13) (“the Bulletin”). To support the system-wide implementation of the zero-tolerance policy, the Director-General has decided to adopt the standards of conduct and provisions on PSEA set by the Bulletin, adjusted as necessary, to be applied by WDIO personnel, as follows.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary

Provide support and service to the TLC teachers in any kind of technology problem regarding, internet, hardware software installations in respective Centers and provide the best service for them via technology. IT Assistant may be engaged in all data collection activities as well. IT Assistant is reportable to the Education Project Manager/ Officer and IT Officer.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in Solving user hardware and software problems in respective TLC.
  • Performs and coordinates routine troubleshooting for running hardware systems i.e., LAN, Winddowns-based computers, and printers.
  • Assist in Hardware maintenance & troubleshooting, Installation & maintenance of software used in a branch office
  • Internal & mail system maintenance and comprehensive IT support to end users.
  • Assist in recharging the modems and cabling, Making a new database for staff information
  • Assist in finding solutions to problems of hardware and software programs and devices.
  • Updating database which is related to users' information.
  • Support and participate in information exchange and coordination mechanisms with partners and relevant information systems/units.
  • Assist with issues related to the use of MIS systems and digital data collection to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Assist in the Preparation and dissemination of technical reports.
  • Assist in designing and developing forms and data collection tools in ODK/Kobo/Enketo.
  • Provide technical support and oversee collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of WDIO, TLC projects-related information from routine surveys, surveillance, and diverse contextual information sources.
  • Assist Strong follow-up with related departments for on-time data entry and sharing with the central office.
  • Data quality assurance checks on a routine base, to check that the data is accurate and as per the project standards and norms.
  • Monitor and report on the implementation of various network construction, internet-service provision, and end-user support contracts;
  • Obtain and compare price quotes, investigate market capacity, and research locally-available and locally-supportable solutions to a wide range of IT problems,
  • Provide technical assistance to project staff and counterparts including the preparation and effective use of presentation technologies, establishing, maintaining, and monitoring effective filing systems, establishing appropriate file sharing procedures, etc.;
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and submit them to the Line supervisor;
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Having at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Application, Software Engineering, or any other relevant field.
  • Having at least 2 years’ experience from an accredited college or university
  • Required Languages – Fluent knowledge of spoken and written English, Dari and Pashto.
  • Willing to work long hours and under pressure. Regular attendance is essential.
  • GENERAL: Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Good human relations skills, integrity, and ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure. Willingness to regularly make project site visits. Strong interpersonal skills are desired. Knowledge of WDIO procedures is desired.
  • High proficiency in computer skills, particularly with systems such as Windows Server 2003, Linux, AVG Anti-Malware Toolkit, Cisco IOS, and Symantec Ghost, as well as Windows XP and Office 2003/2007. Programming experience is desired.
