Job Descriptions:

1. Project Overview

The EmpowerEd project is focused on enhancing the expertise of trainers in Afghanistan, with an emphasis on developing soft skills within the private sector. This project targets 300 Master Trainers who will be selected from Afghan SMEs, The Master Trainer – Finance will play a critical role in delivering specialized finance training across three key provinces: Kabul, Parwan, and Herat.

The primary responsibility of the Master Trainer – Finance will be to develop and deliver finance-related training to the Master Trainers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary financial management skills to teach and train employees effectively. The role also involves the creation of tailored training materials, such as curricula, training manuals, and presentations, all designed to build financial literacy and capacity for small and medium-sized businesses in Afghanistan.

2. Objectives of the Role

The key objectives for the Master Trainer – Finance position are as follows:

  1. Deliver High-Quality Financial Training: Conduct comprehensive finance training sessions for  Master Trainers ,ensuring they understand and can deliver financial literacy and management skills to employees in SMEs.
  2. Curriculum and Training Material Development: Develop a detailed finance curriculum, training manuals, and PowerPoint presentations that align with the project’s goals and are culturally relevant to Afghan SMEs.
  3. Monitoring and Evaluation:  Monitor the effectiveness of the finance training, gather feedback, and continuously adapt training materials and methods to ensure they are achieving the desired outcomes.      

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum and Material Development:
    1. Develop a comprehensive finance curriculum for Master Trainers, covering essential topics such as budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and financial decision-making.
    2. Design training manuals, PowerPoint presentations, and other supporting materials to facilitate effective delivery of finance training.
    c. Ensure that training content is gender-sensitive, accessible, and culturally relevant, meeting the needs of both male and female Master Trainers and trainees.
    3. Adapt training materials to fit the context of Afghan SMEs, ensuring practical applications for financial management at the business level.
  • Training Delivery:
    1. Conduct training workshops for Master Trainers across the provinces of Kabul, Parwan, and Herat.
    2. Provide in-person and/or virtual training sessions as needed, ensuring that training is participatory and encourages engagement from all participants.
    3. Deliver specific training on key financial concepts and tools that Master Trainers can use to teach employees within SMEs.
    4. Use a variety of teaching methods (e.g., case studies, role-playing, practical exercises) to enhance understanding and application of financial principles.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation:
    1. Collect feedback from Master Trainers after each training session to assess the effectiveness of the content and delivery methods.
    2. Review and evaluate the financial understanding and performance of Master Trainers to ensure that the training has been successfully absorbed and can be applied.
    2. Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager, including recommendations for curriculum improvements based on evaluations.
  • Reporting & Documentation:

a. Document all training sessions, including attendance, feedback, and outcomes, to maintain a      comprehensive record of training activities.
b. Prepare regular reports on training progress, challenges faced, and financial management issues that need attention.
c. Ensure all training materials are properly updated and stored for future reference.

4. Deliverables

  1. Training Materials:
    • Developed finance curriculum, training manuals, and PowerPoint presentations.
    • Custom training content for the Master Trainers, covering budgeting, financial management, and SME financial decision-making.
  2. Training Sessions:
    • Delivery of finance training workshops to Master Trainers across Kabul, Parwan, and Herat.
    • Regular refresher training sessions and ongoing support to ensure Master Trainers effectively teach employees.
  3. Monitoring & Evaluation Reports:
    • Regular evaluation reports on the effectiveness of training, including feedback from participants and recommended improvements.
    • Financial literacy assessment reports on the Master Trainers.
  4. Final Training Report:
    • A comprehensive final report detailing the training process, outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for future finance training initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is desirable.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial training, curriculum development, or financial consulting, preferably in the context of SMEs or development projects in Afghanistan.
    • Proven track record of delivering financial management and soft skills training, particularly in diverse, multicultural settings.
    • Experience working with both male and female participants, with a demonstrated commitment to gender equality and inclusivity.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of financial management concepts, tools, and techniques.
    • Experience in developing training curricula, manuals, and PowerPoint presentations.
    • Ability to deliver engaging and interactive training sessions.
    • Strong communication skills in English, Dari, and/or Pashto.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage training schedules across multiple provinces.
