Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

To deliver safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate maternal and newborn healthcare services in the emergency situation within the crisis-affected communities. She will support life-saving emergency RMNCH services.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in rapid assessments, and provision of emergency life-saving servies during crises and emergency situations.
  2. Community awareness and health education, give the necessary care and advice to women during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period.
  3. Provide RMNCH services including Antenatal care, post-natal care, attend emergency deliveries, FP, treatment of STIs, referral of complicated pregenancies to higher level HFs aligned with the BPHS guidelines.
  4. Manage complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care.
  5. MUAC screening of all pregnant and lactating women and referral of those with MUAC less than 23 cm to the nutrition team for treatment
  6. IYCF counseling and education sessions for all pregnant and lactating women
  7. Provide iron-folic acid supplementation to all pregnant women Counsel and educate women, their families, and the community, in relevant areas of health including preparation for parenthood and childbirth.
  8. Obtain specialized assistance as necessary (consultation or referral).
  9. Perform limited, select administrative duties such as patient charting, recording, and reporting of data, clinic and/or facility management, or coordination of specific educational or outreach programs.
  10. Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiative; safety, environmental, and infection prevention standards.
  11. Participate in weekly meetings of health facilities to share information and discuss the program's progress.
  12. Provision of RMNCH services reports in HMIS formats to the team leader.
  13. Identify and report immediately any problem that interferes in the delivery of services or in achieving the program objectives to the team leader, and team leader to his/her immediate supervisor.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within the International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by the International Medical Corps.

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Qualification:

The candidate must be a midwife, who graduated from a recognized midwifery institute.

Experience:

The candidate should have 2 years of experience in BPHS or similar health projects with international or national NGOs.

  • Familiarity with HMIS tools of MoH
  • Good knowledge and experience in midwifery activities.
  • Good knowledge and experience of Health and nutrition training delivery.
  • Excellent reputation/well-known Desirable.
  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues responsibly and maturely.
  • Excellent capacity development and teamwork skills; cross-cultural and gender sensitivity.
  • The candidate will be able to travel to hard-to-reach districts of the target province.
  • The candidate will have good human and communication skills.

The candidate should fluently speak Local languges, and English is an asset.
