Job Descriptions:

The Beekeeping Trainer will play a key role in the implementation of the Beekeeping Development Project by providing high-quality technical training and on-site support to beneficiaries. The purpose of this position is to empower local communities, especially farmers and vulnerable groups, with practical and sustainable beekeeping knowledge and skills. The trainer will be responsible for conducting training workshops, monitoring progress in the field, distributing beekeeping kits, and ensuring proper colony management and honey harvesting practices.

This role requires someone with hands-on experience in beekeeping, strong communication skills, and the ability to work closely with rural communities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and deliver training programs on beekeeping techniques, hive management, and
  • honey production.
  • Develop training materials and resources tailored to the needs of participants.
  • Conduct hands-on workshops and practical demonstrations in various locations.
  • Assess participants' skills and knowledge through evaluations and provide constructive
  • feedback.
  • Collaborate with local farmers, communities, and stakeholders to promote beekeeping
  • initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of training programs and suggest improvements.
  • Stay updated on best practices in beekeeping and relevant agricultural policies.

Job Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE:

Educational Background:

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal sciences, rural development, or a related field. Specialized training or certification in apiculture (beekeeping) is an asset.

 

Technical Knowledge:

Solid understanding of modern beekeeping practices, including hive management, queen rearing, pest and disease control, honey harvesting, and seasonal maintenance.

Familiarity with local bee species, flora, and climate-specific practices is an advantage.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in practical beekeeping.

Proven experience in training or capacity building with rural communities, preferably in livelihood or agricultural projects.

 

Skills:

Strong training and facilitation skills; ability to communicate technical content in a simple and effective way.

Excellent interpersonal and community engagement skills.

Good problem-solving abilities and adaptability in field settings.

Basic knowledge of monitoring and reporting tools.

Familiarity with local languages; knowledge of English is an advantage.

Travel to remote areas.
