About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW):

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization. It is a non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its independent legal status and entity. OHW has operated since 2007 in the country with active membership with the national clusters and international donor agencies in Afghanistan, including SWABAC, ACBAR, AICS, BAAG, AWN, and most of the national and international Clusters operate in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of agriculture-based livelihood interventions (e.g., backyard gardening, crop production, orchards, etc.).
  • Support beneficiary selection based on set criteria through community consultation.
  • Provide technical support and training to farmers on improved agricultural practices, pest management, climate-smart agriculture, etc.
  • Ensure timely distribution of agricultural inputs (tools, seeds, fertilizers, etc.).
  • Design and deliver training materials/manuals on agricultural techniques, sustainable farming, irrigation, and post-harvest practices.
  • Conduct regular field visits and track the progress of activities and outcomes.
  • Prepare field visit reports, training reports, and monthly progress reports.
  • Collect success stories and document best practices.
  • Liaise with local government line departments (e.g., DAIL), community leaders, and other NGOs.
  • Participate in cluster or coordination meetings as required.
  • Conduct assessments to identify livelihood needs and opportunities for returnees and host communities.
  • Develop and implement awareness sessions on livelihood topics such as income generation, micro-business development, climate-resilient agriculture, and market access.
  • Design and deliver vocational skills training in relevant trades based on market demand and participant interest (e.g., tailoring, carpentry, food processing, etc.).
  • Support beneficiaries in the development of business plans and small enterprise management.
  • Liaise with government authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with local priorities and to facilitate community engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of livelihood and vocational training interventions and provide regular reports.
  • Ensure that gender, protection, and inclusion principles are integrated into all livelihood activities.
  • Maintain proper documentation and beneficiary records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural or a related field.   
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ relevant experience, especially within an NGO, UN agencies or similar organization.
  • Experience working with marginalized or vulnerable communities, including women, youth, refugees, and people with disabilities.
  • Ability to design and adapt livelihoods interventions based on community needs assessments, ensuring sustainability.
  • Understanding of local culture and context, especially when working in rural or marginalized areas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of planning, and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately via English, Pashto and Dari.
