Job Description

The Dairy Processing Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support, practical training, and guidance to local dairy producers in the processing, preservation, and marketing of dairy products. The goal is to improve the quality, productivity, and market competitiveness of local dairy production.

Job Requirements

Train local dairy producers on modern and hygienic methods of dairy processing (milk, yogurt, cheese, butter, cream, etc.).

Assess technical needs of dairy processing centers, cooperatives, or producers regarding equipment and materials.

To deliver practical training sessions on small scale dairy processing such as Milk hygiene and handling, Production of yogurt, butter, cheese, and ghee, Packaging, labeling, and storage techniques, Basic food safety and hygiene practices (70% practical, 30% Theory) and using participatory and culturally appropriated methods.

To demonstrate Dairy Processing techniques such as hygienic milk handling, fermentation, churning, and packaging techniques using locally available resources and equipment.

Ensure quality control standards for dairy production and supervise laboratory testing where applicable.

Introduce and demonstrate standard techniques for storage and preservation of dairy products.

Provide technical advice for marketing and value chain improvement of dairy products.

Organize and facilitate training workshops, seminars, and on-site demonstrations for producers.

Offer guidance on food safety, hygiene, and nutrition related to dairy processing.

Prepare and submit regular reports, documentation, and progress updates to the main office.

Monitor and evaluate project activities to ensure alignment with project goals.

Maintain coordination and communication with project staff, local cooperatives, and other stakeholders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of dairy processing equipment, production lines, and storage facilities.
  • Good teaching, communication, and report-writing skills; familiarity with digital tools.
  • Fluency in English and Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken
  • Ability to travel within Panjshir Province and nearby districts as required.
