Job Description

Position Summary

The Provincial Cashmere and Wool Trainer is responsible for delivering field-level training and technical support to herders, farmers, producers, and primary processors to improve cashmere and wool quality, production, traceability, and certification. The trainer will support the implementation of project activities at the provincial level in line with project plans and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical training to herders, farmers, producers, and primary processors on cashmere and wool quality improvement, harvesting/shearing, animal husbandry, processing, traceability, and certification.
  • Support the implementation of cashmere and wool project activities at the provincial level according to the approved work plan.
  • Facilitate and support field activities, demonstrations, and coaching sessions in coordination with the Program Officer.
  • Responsible for project-related input distribution.
  • Assist in data collection, field assessments, and monitoring of project activities, including baseline and progress tracking.
  • Promote sustainable and ethical cashmere and wool production practices among targeted communities.
  • Maintain close relationships with targeted communities and local stakeholders.
  • Support documentation and timely reporting of training activities and field progress.
  • Coordinate with consultants and support their field-level activities related to cashmere and wool certification.
  • Represent the project at provincial-level meetings and coordination forums when required.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in veterinary science, Agriculture, Livestock, Animal Husbandry, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in livestock extension, training, or value chain development.
  • Practical knowledge of cashmere and wool production systems is an advantage.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with communities in field conditions.
  • Willingness to travel within the province.
