About NSIA

Creating a methodical unit system, coordination of statistical activities, registration of statistical, population and Geographic Information for that purpose National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) operates as an independent government institution at the country level.

National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) which was previously known as the central Statistics Administration, in 1972, it was established as an independent department within the framework of the government.

The NSIA now has three deputy director general offices and one general directorate (The Deputy Director General Office for Statistics, Civil Registration and Finance and Administrative Affairs)

The NSIA has 30 directorates and legal consultant within its structure in the center and has offices which operate in 34 provinces of the country under the name of the Statistics and Information Directorate.

The Deputy Director General Office for Statistics is responsible for strengthening and standardizing of the statistical system, developing and improving statistical initiatives for producing and presenting quality data in various economic and social fields.

The Office of Deputy Director General for Civil Registration which within NSIA is the only authority for registering civil and vital information of the citizens in the country which verifies identities. The directorate presents valuable services to citizens, so that they play a constructive role in bringing positive change and good governance in the country.

The Deputy Director General Office for Finance and Administrative Affairs is responsible for human resources issues, services, procurement and finance matter within NSIA and it also helps the technical branched of the NSIA.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate for Geo Spatial Information management collects, stores and manages geographical information of the country. Collection of the information takes place at national level utilizing most up to date technology such as the remote sensing and the Geographical Information System (GIS).

Job Description

Job Summary:

Accurate and proper completion of electronic questionnaires (area conditions, household listing, and sample households), and preparing a complete list of all residential and non-residential units in the related area.

It is planned that household listing and the counting of children under five years old will be conducted in Kandahar Province by the National Statistics and Information Authority.

For the implementation of the household listing and counting of children under five years old in Kandahar Province, the National Statistics and Information Authority will hire surveyors who meet the following requirements. If selected, their work contract will be signed with the Afghan Youth Services Organization.

General Job Description:

The interviewer is responsible for conducting interviews with households and collecting high-quality data for the household listing and the counting of children under five years old in Kandahar Province.

Each survey team will consist of two members. The interviewer will receive official training before the start of fieldwork and is expected to work full-time for one month during the survey.

It should be noted that each applicant who applies for the household listing and the counting of children under five years old survey must be a current resident of Kandahar Province and must be ready to work in the same province.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Participate actively in the training courses for surveyors, which are organized to explain the survey methods.
  2. Take part in the survey operations as a surveyor and perform the work with commitment.
  3. Before going to the field, ensure that the tablet and all required survey materials are complete and in good condition.
  4. Conduct the survey according to the instructions and guidelines explained in the surveyor manual.
  5. Number the doors of buildings and prepare a complete list of all residential and non-residential units in the area without any missing or extra counts, and ensure the work is accurate and complete.
  6. The surveyor must visit all sample households assigned by the system and conduct the interviews carefully and completely.
  7. The surveyor must regularly report field activities to the relevant controller.
  8. Ensure that all questionnaires of the related teams are fully sent to the central server.

Required Skills and Conditions

Job Duration and Benefits: Full-time position for one month. Daily wages and travel allowances will be paid according to the policy of the National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA).

  1. When completing the application form, the applicant must select the district where they currently reside.
  2. Applicants must have at least a Baccalaureate (High School) certificate. Preference will be given to those with higher educational qualifications.
  3. The applicant must be committed to working full-time during the survey period and should be familiar with the geographical and social conditions of the area. The ability to work additional hours when required is necessary.
  4. The applicant must be able to travel to all districts of Kandahar Province, especially remote areas.
  5. The applicant must have full physical ability and the readiness required to carry out assigned duties.
  6. The applicant must have basic skills in using a computer, smartphone, and tablet.
  7. The applicant must comply with the data protection policies of the National Statistics and Information Authority and the regulations of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Preference for Applicants with Work Experience and Technical Skills

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have relevant work experience and the required technical skills.
  • Applicants must have full proficiency in both official languages (Pashto and Dari).
