About Afghan Health & Development Services (AHDS):

Afghan Health and Development Services (AHDS) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization founded by Afghans on April 7th, 1990.  AHDS is an active member of the Afghan NGOs Coordination Bureau (ANCB), the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief (ACBAR), and the Alliance of Health Organizations (AHO). AHDS is one of the first signatories of the Codes of Conduct for NGOs engaged in humanitarian action, reconstruction, and development in Afghanistan.

The main office: AHDS is registered as a national NGO with the Ministry of Economy – Afghanistan. The registration number (5) was renewed on 25 Aug 2005 (old number 219 on 18 Nov 1999). Its TIN is 100 005 5 010.

Job Descriptions:

  1. Do OPD in the scheduled plan.
  2. Attend Local Health Committee Meeting
  3. Aggregate Health information system report
  4. Attend in the morning report and give feedback.
  5. Follow up vaccinator O/M plan.
  6. Supportive supervision from all parts of the clinic.
  7. Responsible for TB case detection (TB Mobile activity)
  8. Leader for the emergency task force in the relevant area
  9. Check the stock of the pharmacy.
  10. Attend in Clinic Management Team 
  11. Participate in training and workshops upon request.
  12. Attend an HF meeting to share the experience between HF directors.
  13. Check the nutritional status of all children <5Y and record them. 
  14. Health education for patients coming to a health facility.
  15. Provide counseling for women about family planning, nutrition, personal and hygiene.
  16. Refer the complicated cases to the higher health facilities.
  17. To identify health problems, which may impact an individual’s ability to fulfill their mission before an assignment begins.
  18. To empower individuals and families to manage their health and well-being effectively
  19. To diagnose and treat illnesses arising whilst on assignment or at the end of the assignment
  20. To provide a supportive environment in which a client can express wider psychological, emotional & spiritual concerns
  21. Co-ordinate appropriate follow-up care for patients following an initial medical examination
  22. Order and carry out appropriate tests (this will include taking blood from children and adults)
  23. Make referrals where appropriate
  24. Report clearly to client agencies in a timely fashion respecting the individual patient’s confidentiality.
  25. Provide a full & comprehensive report to the individual following their medical examination addressing specific questions and concerns expressed by them during the examination
  26. Respond to medical queries from client agencies and individual patients by phone or email
  27. Provide back-up and support to the nurse’s team who have primary responsibility for running the Travel Clinic
  28. Liaise with the Psychological Health Team where indicated
  29. Attend clinical meetings in Nairobi, Kenya
  30. Keep up-to-date concerning developments within occupational & travel medicine and other specialties relevant to the medical work at Inter Health
  31. Contribute to the development of health information resources, culturally appropriate clinical services, and related health and well-being events
  32. Participate in clinical governance via audit and significant events
  33. Attend client agency liaison meetings when required.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree of MD Certified by MoPH.
  • Working experience as a General Practitioner 2 to 4 years in a hospital.
  • Good Pashto language skills. Computer skills are preferable.
  • To work in a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
