HI has been supporting the Afghan people since 1987, starting its operations in Pakistan. Since 1996, HI has been operating across Afghanistan in order to launch victim assistance interventions, working at different levels of the society and adopting a cross-sectoral approach. While present on the ground to directly support victims of the conflict through the provision of a range of services – from physical rehabilitation, to mine risk education and inclusive livelihoods – HI has been continuously advocating to increase the rights of victims and other people with disabilities in the country. In particular, and in line with its global strategy and priorities, HI has been advocating to reduce the use of landmines and conventional weapons. Acknowledging the need to respond to the urgent emergency crises combined with longer term, chronic gaps in the provision of services, HI has steadily expanded its range of activities and services in order to support the most vulnerable people, enhancing their resilience while strengthening participation and inclusion of all individuals.

Job Descriptions:

Mission

Under supervision of Logistics, the cook is responsible to prepare food and drinks in the office including distribution of food and drinking materials to each office. He has to take care of making a nutritionally equilibrated, good and variated food respecting the basic hygienic rules.

 

Responsibilites:

  • To collect money from the staff in daily basis
  • To purchase fresh foods and seasoning and maintain them fresh if not consumed
  • To prepare lunch for staff who pay. He may be also asked to prepare lunch for specific occasions such as workshops, meetings and celebrations
  • To prepare Hot water every day in the morning
  • To prepare the dining room and table before meals and clean after meals
  • To wash dishes and glasses after meals
  • To distribute hot water and drinking materials to each office. He may also be asked to distribute foods to each office
  • To provide drinks for guests
  • To maintain the food items, kitchen space, refrigerator and the appliances clean and hygienic
  • To conserve the leftover foods

Job Requirements:

Knowledge required

Essential

  • At least 3 years work experience with I/NGOs.
  • School graduate.
  • Computing / office technology
  • Functioning of telecommunications equipment
  • Principles of stock management
  • English language will be an asset.
