Context:

 

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Resource Management Officer and direct supervision of the National Information Technology Officer in the mission, in close coordination with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Division Central Team, the IT Associate will be responsible for the following functions.

Job Descriptions:

  1. Support the administration and monitoring of security issues so they are addressed in an efficient and timely manner. The incumbent should be able to communicate well on a professional level
  2. Provide technical support, assessment, recommendation in a complex network environment based on Cisco and Microsoft infrastructure for the whole Mission.
  3. Provide support to all locations under IOM Afghanistan as well an onsite visit when necessary.
  4. Provide end-user support and problem-solving in a hybrid cloud environment.
  5. Support and assist users using Windows 10/11, Office 365, Exchange Online, Sharepoint Online and the Organization’s corporate applications such as PRISM, Cisco, etc.
  6.  Monitor that all computers and devices are updated regularly to comply with ICT security standards.
  7. Assist to maintain office compliance with ICT security policy and procedures.
  8. Apply security protocols, standards and maintain all network LAN/WAN equipment for the office (including but not limited to Cisco / Meraki Firewall, Switches, and Access points)
  9. Maintain and monitor network connectivity of the offices. To make sure that the connectivity (VPN and internet) is up and running with minimal downtime.
  10. Administer account lifecycle using One Identity application.
  11. To adhere with IOM Global ICT standard, procedures, and guidelines.
  12. Assist to provide training to users in using corporate and standard applications, security awareness and new applications being implemented by the Mission/Organization.
  13. Draft reports, documentations, and SOPs when necessary.
  14. Perform any other tasks within the incumbent’s capacity as requested by the IT Officer.

Education

 

University degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience.

High School diploma with five (5) years of relevant professional experience

Professional Certifications in Security, Microsoft and Cisco would be a distinct advantage.

 

Experience

 

  • Extensive experience and wide-ranging knowledge in the Information Management and Communications Technology, including:
  • Administration, implementation of IT Infrastructure solutions in a multi-site environment, including implementation and support of medium to large-scale WAN/LAN technologies, and on-premises and/or cloud-based servers, resources, and applications.
  • Support and troubleshooting of ICT equipment hardware and software, including corporate and commercial applications from multiple platforms and operating systems.
  • Experience in Identity lifecycle is an advantage
  • IT security implementation including MFA, RADIUS, Microsoft Endpoint protection, bitlocker, Intune and standard security policy
  • Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networking, firewall, router, switch, Virtual Private Networking (VPN), network security, and other telecommunications technologies.
  • Windows server platforms, where an understanding of Active Directory domain environment.
  • IT Service Asset and Configuration Management compliance.
  • Knowledge in Rapid7, Proofpoint and Meraki security configuration is a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of the latest technological developments in Information Technology and Information Security.
  • Prior work experience with IOM or the UN System is an advantage.

 

SKILLS

 

  • Relevant technical knowledge related to the daily operation and troubleshooting of WAN/LAN network equipment, devices and services, to ensure corporate connectivity, monitoring and highest uptime.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-location environment including managing across multiple teams, functions and organizations often outside 'standard' working hours, leveraging on-premises and cloud computing solutions and systems.
  • Effective resource management skills, strategic and creative thinking.
  • Strong proficiency with end-user-level Microsoft Office 365 application and collaboration tools (in particular: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Teams, SharePoint, Onedrive).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and strong organizational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving approach, ability to work in a cross-divisional team and ability to quickly understand IOM business processes.

 

Languages

 

  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.
