Background:

Afghan Community Research & Empowerment Organization for Development (ACREOD) was founded in 2010. The organization is registered with the Ministry of Economy. ACREOD is a 14-year-old national organization working to fight poverty and social injustice in Afghanistan, focusing on empowering women and girls. We work with communities to understand the roots of poverty and find innovative, local solutions. ACREOD seeks to demonstrate the results and methods used in our projects to ensure transparency and accountability and improve the quality of work.

Job Descriptions:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Needs Assessment and Analysis:
    • Rapidly deploying to affected areas to conduct comprehensive needs assessments.
    • Gathering and analyzing data on the scale, severity, and evolving dynamics of the emergency situation.
    • Mapping existing resources, capacities, and gaps in emergency response capabilities.
    • Identifying the most urgent and critical needs of the affected population.
  2. Coordination and Collaboration:
    • Liaising with local authorities, humanitarian agencies, and other key stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and integrated emergency response.
    • Participating in inter-agency coordination mechanisms, such as clusters or working groups.
    • Facilitating the exchange of information, resources, and best practices among responders.
    • Advocating for the prioritization of the most vulnerable groups and equitable aid distribution.
  3. Emergency Programming and Implementation:
    • Developing and overseeing the implementation of life-saving emergency interventions.
    • Providing technical expertise and guidance on sectors such as shelter, water, sanitation, health, and protection.
    • Mobilizing and managing human and material resources to support field operations.
    • Ensuring the timely delivery of critical supplies and services to affected communities.
  4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Adaptation:
    • Establishing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track the progress and impact of emergency activities.
    • Regularly reviewing and adjusting response strategies and operational plans based on evolving needs and feedback.
    • Documenting lessons learned and best practices to inform future emergency preparedness and response efforts.
  5. Capacity Building and Training:
    • Providing training and mentoring to local responders, authorities, and community groups.
    • Strengthening the emergency response capacities of national and local organizations.
    • Collaborating with academic institutions and research partners to develop and disseminate innovative approaches.
  6. Advocacy and Representation:
    • Advocating for the rights and dignity of affected populations, especially marginalized groups.
    • Representing the humanitarian community in high-level dialogues and negotiations.
    • Engaging with the media to raise awareness and generate support for emergency responses.

Job Requirements:

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • University/College degree
  • a minimum of 2 years of continuous professional’s experience in the relevant field.
  • Good Administration organizational and management skills and good leadership qualifications.
  • Good political knowledge of context.
  • Good report/proposal writing skills.
  • Language: Fluent in English Pashto and Dari (spoken and written).
