Job Description
Objectives
The primary objective of this role is to design, develop, and implement databases that meet the specific needs of our clients while ensuring the software provided is reliable and efficient. The candidate will work closely with our tech team to create and maintain systems that support the company's vision and goals.
Key Responsibilities
The Database Developer and Coding Expert will be responsible for the following:
- Database Design and Development
- Design, develop, and manage databases that align with project requirements.
- Ensure databases are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
- Develop data models and database schemas to meet business needs.
- Coding and Software Development
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code to implement database solutions.
- Collaborate with the development team to integrate databases with software applications.
- Provide customization to databases already built and being implemented.
- Troubleshoot and resolve coding and database issues as they arise.
- Implementation and Maintenance
- Implement and deploy database systems that are reliable and easy to use.
- Ensure databases and related software are updated and maintained regularly.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure that the software remains headache-free for clients.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, developers, field staff in Afghanistan’s five zones and other stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively in English, and fluency of Dari and Pashto is highly desirable.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s preferred,
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years experience in coding, database/ERP development
- Proven experience in database design, development, and implementation.
- Strong coding skills with expertise in languages such as SQL, Python, or Java.
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Experience in software development and deployment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in database management and coding.
- Familiarity with software development tools and methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English; knowledge of Dari and Pashto is a plus.
- Other: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
Reporting and Supervision
The Database Developer and Coding Expert will report directly to the Project Manager and will work closely with other members of the Kabul and provincial teams.
