Job Descriptions:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Roles and Responsibilities

Technical

Supporting staff in conducting group and individual sessions with people with disabilities in need of psychosocial services.

Performing individual assessments, drawing up counselling plans and providing counselling and psychological support to needy people.

Assessing and diagnosing clients experiencing signs and symptoms of psychological distress.

Support psychosocial trainers in developing referral mechanisms to other health facilities /professionals as well as to other resources available in Balkh and surrounding provinces. 

Planning, executing, and follow up of the assessed and diagnosed clients with CBRWs and other disability projects staff.

Conducting field visits from disability projects cover area in NAC and provide on job support, mentorship and coaching to CBRWs in case identification, assessment, diagnoses, counselling and follow up of the clients’ experiencing symptoms of psychological distress.

To ensure confidentiality including all client’s records is safe and secure in MRC.

Train CBRWs on case identification, counselling, and follow up.

Training PT and P&O staff on assessing and diagnosing clients experiencing symptoms of psychological distress.

Support psychosocial training in Development of psychosocial counselling tools and templates.

Support the social integration team in MRC in conducting awareness sessions related to psychosocial support to people with disabilities.

Report on a monthly and quarterly basis and ad hoc to immediate supervisor.

Keep proper record of psychosocial counselling component in MRC of NAC.

Promote an attitude of team spirit and a strong focus on quality.

Develop and maintain professional working relations with the Disability project team.

Attend all relevant meetings request by line manager and staff.

At least 30% of time should be in the field.

Any other related duties assigned from time to time by line supervisor.

Do related jobs as delegated by MRC and Training Center Coordinator

Tasks of relation with external agencies

Develop and maintain positive and constructive relationships and co-operation among the Disability project team

Coordinate and strengthen the technical working relationship with other colleagues.

Job Requirements:

Languages Required

Fluency in English and Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken

Qualifications Required

University degree /Diploma in Psychology or Social Work and a Valid certificate from Ministry of Health certifying as Professional Psychosocial Counsellor).

Experience

A minimum of 2- 3 years of work experience in Psychosocial counselling.

Skills Required

Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS Office packages.

Interpersonal and communication skills

Team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

Psychosocial Counsellor must have strong analytical and problem-solving and excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Ability to travel to the field under coverage area of NAC

Ability of conducting training on Psychosocial support.

Ability to clearly express one’s thoughts to analyses and present information clearly and concisely.

Ability to set priorities and show initiative to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to maintain the confidentiality of clients’ files.

Knowledge of case management and crisis intervention techniques.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Flexibility and ability to manage change.
