Job Descriptions:

The Role

Consultant – Ophthalmologist will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and management of complex eye diseases. He/She will perform advanced eye surgical procedures, such as cataract, glaucoma and retinal surgeries. Also, will ensure to collaborate with ophthalmology technicians and nursing teams to provide specialized patient care and assist in offering training and development for junior doctors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee personalized treatment plans to diagnose and manage complex eye diseases, disorders, and injuries, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, and corneal conditions.
  • Ensure comprehensive and patient-centered care by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address specialized eye cases, maintaining the highest standards of care.
  • Mentor, assist and provide guidance and training to ophthalmology technicians, nursing staff, junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals involved in the Ophthalmology department.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and efficacy of Eye and Ophthalmology services within the hospital.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and offer emotional support during challenging times.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of care, including accurate Neurology documentation, billing, and adherence to patient safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with other hospital departments and staff members to address patient needs and ensure effective communication and workflow across the hospital.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Advance specialization degree in Ophthalmology from an accredited institute/university, attested by relevant institutions of Afghanistan.
  • At least five years of experience in Ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with the latest ophthalmic technologies
