About Bakhter Development Network - BDN:

Bakhter Development Network (BDN) was established and officially registered in Afghanistan in 2001 as an Afghan non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and developmental organization. BDN operates in accordance with its constitution in three main thematic areas: health, education, and agriculture and livestock. With its current focus on public health and nutrition, BDN helps communities achieve their developmental goals, while its wider vision is a world of enabled communities working towards a brighter future.

Currently, BDN is engaged in multiple initiatives, including the Health Emergency Response Additional Financing (HER AF) project in Balkh, Maidan Wardak, and Kapisa Provinces. BDN is also implementing projects such as the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP), the Community-Based Nutrition Intervention (CBNI) in Balkh, Badakhshan, and Kunduz Provinces, as well as the GC 7 project in Balkh and Maidan Wardak Provinces.

Job Descriptions:

  • Assess and evaluate that EPI activities are in accordance with the plan and regulations.
  • Ensure quality of vaccination activities, EPI equipment, and facilities through monthly supervision. 
  • Assess the training needs of EPI staff regularly through planned visits of FCs.
  • Develop a standard curriculum for different EPI training in collaboration with the EPI officer/project manager.
  • Supervise the Fixed Centers (FCs) and outreach site activities according to the monthly plan of action.
  • Develop questionnaires and exams for training of EPI staff and vaccinators.
  • Cooperate with WHO EPI officers in AFP surveillance to eradicate polio.
  • Collect the EPI activities report, do analysis, and give feedback to the EPI staff.
  • Carry out on-the-job training at the  FCs, case presentations, and individual instructions.
  • Train and encourage volunteers on community motivation and mobilization for the implementation of routine and NID campaigns.
  • Develop the micro-plan for routine and NID at the district and provincial levels.
  • Prepare monthly activity reports of EPI activities.
  • Accomplish other activities requested by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Medical doctor and nursing degree.
  • A medical doctor with 5 years of relevant experience or a nurse with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Certificate in English language.
  • Excellent computer knowledge.
  • Honest and trustworthy.
  • Interest and ability to travel extensively in the field
  • Fluent in Dari, Pashto, and good in the English language
  • Must be proactive in being a member of the provincial team.
  • Must have strong facilitation skills and work as a team player.
  • Local staff will be preferred.
