Technical Supervision and Support:
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to PSS Counselors working in health centers.
- Ensure that PSS interventions follow IASC and national standards, including Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) guidelines.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor the implementation of PSS activities and provide on-site coaching.
- Review and improve counseling techniques, case based approaches, and referral pathways.
Capacity Building and Training:
- Organize and facilitate regular training sessions for PSS Counselors on MHPSS principles, case refferal, and self-care strategies.
- Ensure PSS Counselors receive continuous professional development and technical support.
- Develop training materials and tools for capacity enhancement.
Protection Monitoring:
- Oversee processes, ensuring confidentiality, quality, and adherence to protection principles.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of cases while maintaining ethical considerations.
- Support PSS Counselors in identifying protection risks and making referrals to appropriate services.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Project Manager, health staff, and relevant stakeholders to integrate PSS within healthcare services.
- Coordinate with external agencies, local authorities, and community structures to enhance service provision.
- Represent WASSA in protection and MHPSS coordination meetings at regional levels when required.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Collect, compile, and analyze data, daily, weekly and monthly to assess the progress and impact of PSS services.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports to the Project Manager.
- Develop monitoring tools and ensure regular assessments of PSS interventions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in psychosocial support, or protection programming.
- Experience in supervising teams and conducting training in PSS/MHPSS.
- Strong understanding of protection principles, GBV, and child protection frameworks.
- Knowledge of Afghan cultural and social contexts, particularly in Herat, Farah, and Badghis.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and team management skills.
- Proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto; knowledge of English is an advantage.
