Job Purpose :

WASH Community Mobilizer is responsible for maintaining a close relationship with the communities to facilitate a smooth program and project implementation. Facilitate awareness creation measures and facilitate community responses and develop contact and professional relationships with community elders, religious leaders, and the Community Development Councils. S/he will ensure the smooth running of assigned project activities in the targeted areas and report to the WASH Officer.

Main Duties & Responsibilities :

• Conduct regular community meetings in the project-targeted communities.
• Conduct program awareness community meetings at the beginning of the project in targeted communities.
• Assist the project team in the assessment for the selection of districts and communities for the WASH Programme activities.
• Mobilize community members for the district-level WASH Programme activities and assist the communities in preparation.
• Assist in Identifying and training the WASH committee members.
• Assist in Conducting solid waste clean-up campaigns if required.
• Propose solutions to the community problems encountered in the project phase.
• Organize workshops and meetings when necessary.
• Write weekly activity reports and submit them to the WASH officer.
• Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

• Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

• It is all staff’s shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. This includes safeguarding from the following conduct by our staff or partners: sexual exploitation and abuse; exploitation, neglect, or abuse of children and adults at risk; and any form of trafficking in persons. 

Qualifications : 

Possess an Associate Degree (14th grade) or above in Law, Sharia, social sciences, teacher education, Education, or other relevant fields.

Experience :

• A minimum of two years of experience in WASH relevant community mobilization within UN agencies, government institutions, or international/National Non-governmental organizations.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•  To be able to propose solutions to the identified needs if needed.
• Flexibility in working hours.
• Dynamic to motivate the team.
• Preference to be given to the local candidates.

Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Listens to others and shows a real commitment to maintaining open communication with the client and team members.

Teamwork: Committed to working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve project tasks for the team. Willing to learn from others and open to giving and receiving feedback.

Flexibility/adaptability: This requires the candidate to have the sufficient capacity to adapt to the IMC work methodology and different work environments (office and field) that the candidate might have later during a mission.

Note: Preference to be given to the local candidates.
