Faradata Social Change and Women Empowerment Organization (FSCWEO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established on 20 July 2020 in Afghanistan. FSCWEO works to promote social change, empower women and youth, and support vulnerable communities through programs in education, health, WASH, livelihoods, human rights, and humanitarian assistance. Job Descriptions:

1. Background

Under the Maternal and Child Benefit Program (MCBP), the Nutrition-Sensitive Livelihoods (NSL) component aims to enhance the food security, nutrition, and resilience of vulnerable households in selected districts. The NSL component focuses on building the practical and entrepreneurial capacities of targeted beneficiaries so they can engage in income-generating and nutrition-improving activities that contribute to sustainable household wellbeing.

2. Purpose of the Position

The Livelihood Trainer/Coach will play a key role in empowering target beneficiaries by delivering training on soft skills, financial literacy, and business skills and business coaching and mentoring to strengthen their livelihood and entrepreneurial skills. The trainer/coach will be provided with a trainer’s manual and coaching guide to follow and is expected to adapt the delivery of the content to the level of participants. The position focuses on capacity development, skill building, coaching, and continuous follow-up support, ensuring beneficiaries can successfully establish or expand income-generating activities that improve household nutrition and food security.

3. Key Responsibilities and Duties

A. Training Delivery and Capacity Building

  • Deliver the nutrition-sensitive livelihood training modules (soft skills, financial literacy, business skills) and sessions as per the given curriculum (trainer’s manual).
  • Conduct training sessions in an engaging and participatory way as per the curriculum and training plan.
  • Facilitate training based on the key objectives and themes of the trainer’s manual with the aim of building participants knowledge and skills.
  • Develop a lesson plan for each session in the curriculum.
  • Following the overall content of the trainer’s manual, develop a contextualized toolkit of training aids (presentations, handouts, pictures, etc.) in Pashto and Dari.
  • Encourage peer learning and group exchanges to build confidence and promote sustainable skill-sharing among beneficiaries.
  • Guide and support beneficiaries to develop and document their nutrition-sensitive livelihoods business plan.
  • Guide and support beneficiaries to assess and fill out the simplified environmental & social safeguards checklists as they develop their business plans.

B. Coaching and Mentorship

  • Following the training, provide group coaching sessions to trainees based on the coaching guide provided.
  • Facilitate discussions to understand and support individual participants’ specific challenges, needs and aspirations.
  • Provide a space for peer-to-peer engagement to support participants to overcome their challenges in their businesses.
  • Support beneficiaries in further developing business plans, managing their new businesses, and accessing markets.
  • Troubleshoot operational and technical challenges faced by trainees and provide timely solutions or referrals.

C. Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning

  • Monitor trainee participation and learning progress during training and coaching sessions through regular observation, feedback, and review of training activities.
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress, training completion, and coaching reports.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories for internal learning, curriculum & coaching guide improvements and donor reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and outcomes.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of all livelihood activities in line with donor and partner standards.

D. Compliance and Conduct

  • Adhere to organizational policies, including Code of Conduct, PSEA, and Child Protection policies.
  • Sign and comply with PSEA and Child Protection self-declaration forms.
  • Promote gender equity, inclusion, and safeguarding principles during all interactions with communities.

4. Expected Deliverables

• Comprehensive training and coaching plans aligned with project objectives.
• Monthly and final progress reports detailing training outcomes and beneficiary performance.
• Documented success stories and best practices from the field.
• Established incubation or peer-learning environments that promote sustained engagement.
 

Job Requirements:

. Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Veterinary Science, Business Administration (BBA), Economics, Finance, or any Social Sciences.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience in livelihoods, business development, vocational skills training, or community-based resilience projects.
  • Experience in nutrition-sensitive or women-focused livelihood projects is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the local context, socio-economic dynamics, and cultural considerations relevant to the project districts (Kamdesh, Sayad, or Zaranj).

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Technical Skills:

• Strong expertise in livelihood development, small enterprise management, and vocational training.
• Experience in designing and delivering training modules, business coaching, and mentoring programs.
• Good understanding of market linkages, value chain development, and local enterprise ecosystems.
• Familiarity with participatory approaches and adult learning techniques.

  • Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proven report writing and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in English, Pashto, and Dari (spoken and written).
• Commitment to teamwork, integrity, and professionalism.

 Monitoring and Quality Assurance

• Regularly evaluate training impact and beneficiary satisfaction.
• Ensure all activities adhere to project objectives, donor requirements, and safeguarding standards.
• Provide feedback and recommendations for program improvement to the Project Manager.
