Job Summary:

The Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science serves as the academic and administrative leader of the faculty. The position plays a key role in guiding academic programs, managing faculty and resources, and promoting a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. The Dean provides strategic direction, ensures compliance with university and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) standards, and works collaboratively with faculty members to achieve faculty goals and advance the mission and vision of Alfalah University.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Leadership & Program Management:

The Faculty Dean is typically responsible for ensuring the success, quality and continuous improvement of all academic Programs within the faculty.

  •  Set academic and operational goals for the faculty and oversee day-to-day operations
  • Develop and implement plans, policies and curriculum in accordance with university standards and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) guidelines.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality academic programs and maintain alignment with institutional objectives.
  1. Student Engagement & Academic Support:
  • Maintain active engagement with students to identify and address their academic needs.
  • Monitor student academic performance and collaborate with university management to recognize outstanding achievements through honors and awards.
  • Ensure a supportive, inclusive and positive learning environment is maintained.
  1. Administrative & Strategic Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic and annual operational plans for faculty.
  • Carry out administrative duties including monitoring lecturer punctuality, teaching schedules, and departmental operations within the faculty.
  • Coordinate with the Course Coordinator to ensure class timetables, visual resources lecture notes (slides) and teaching materials are prepared and updated regularly and accessible to the lecturers.
  • Supervise and mentor faculty committees, ensuring activities are effectively performed and reported quarterly to the Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Human Resource Department.
  • Ensure that classrooms are properly equipped with digital multimedia and other learning resources.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to Alfalah University’s mission and vision by all faculty members.
  1. Faculty and Staff Management
  • Supervise and support academic staff (Lecturers) to ensure effective teaching and conduct research contributing to their professional growth and development.
  • Organize regular meetings to address student concerns and academic issues.
  • Ensure punctuality, accountability, and productivity among teaching staff.
  • Foster professional teamwork, collaboration, and a culture of mutual respect within the faculty.
  • Resolve internal conflicts among staff and ensure issues are resolved constructively and efficiently.
  1. Innovation & Quality Assurance
  • Introduce innovative frameworks and teaching approaches and assessment procedures that improve learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance standards as per MOHE and University requirements.
  • Regularly review and evaluate curriculum and teaching methodologies for improvement
  1. Other Responsibilities
  • Represent the Faculty of Computer Science  at external meetings and professional forums
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Vice Chancellor academic or university management.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Master’s Degree (MSc) in Computer Science, preferably in Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Experience:

Minimum of Three (3) years of professional experience in academic or educational institutions, preferably in administrative or managerial capacities.

Language Proficiency:

Excellent command of English, Pashto, and Dari (both spoken and written)

Computer Skills:

Proficient in office automation and computer applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Internet-based tools.

Professional and Technical Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of contemporary curriculum design and syllabus development trends in computer science.
  • Proven ability to motivate, guide, and maintain discipline among faculty members and students.
  • Excellent administrative, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Creative, analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills in handling academic or staff issues.
  • Ability to lead collaboratively and maintain positive professional relationships.
