Resilience, Environment, and Humanitarian Aid (REHA) is a national NGO registered with the Afghan Ministry of Economy, specializing in environmental protection, climate change, disaster risk reduction, and cross-cutting areas such as agriculture, livelihood support, and humanitarian assistance. REHA employs a balanced approach, combining “hard” interventions (e.g., infrastructure, resource management) with “soft” interventions (e.g., capacity building, advocacy) to address the needs of communities affected by climate and humanitarian crises.

About the Project:

The COMTREE project is a community-driven initiative in Nangarhar and Badakhshan aimed at planting 12,000 forest and fruit trees to strengthen environmental resilience and promote socio-economic development. Beyond the plantation, it integrates sustainable land management, climate-smart agriculture, gender-responsive participation, and livelihood creation. The project emphasizes community ownership through Village Development Committees and capacity-building programs, while water conservation and irrigation systems ensure long-term sustainability. With robust monitoring and adaptive management, COMTREE seeks to enhance ecosystem services, generate green jobs, empower communities, and deliver measurable climate and socio-economic impacts.

The Guard/Cleaner will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and security of the field office, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

Job Descriptions:

The Guard/Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and security of the field offices, with one position based in Badakhshan and another in Nangarhar. This role is vital for ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Guarding:

  • Monitor and Secure Premises:
    • Oversee the field office to prevent unauthorized access and ensure safety.
    • Check identification and log visitors to maintain security.
  • Conduct Regular Patrols:
    • Perform routine patrols of the office and surrounding areas to deter security breaches.
    • Report any unusual behavior or conditions to management.
  • Ensure Safety of Staff and Visitors:
    • Assist staff and visitors as needed, fostering a welcoming environment.
    • Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, following protocols.

Cleaning:

  • Maintain Cleanliness:
    • Keep all areas of the field office, including offices, restrooms, and common areas, clean and organized.
    • Perform daily cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing.
  • Stock and Maintain Cleaning Supplies:
    • Regularly check and replenish cleaning supplies to ensure availability.
    • Report any shortages or maintenance needs to management.
  • Proper Waste Disposal:
    • Dispose of waste according to regulations and organizational policies.
    • Maintain cleanliness in waste disposal areas and ensure bins are emptied regularly.
  • Ensure Hygiene Standards:
    • Follow hygiene protocols to maintain a sanitary workplace, especially in high-traffic areas.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma (12th Grade) preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in security or cleaning roles is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and visitors.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and security protocols.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit to perform cleaning and security tasks, including lifting and moving objects as needed.

Reliability:

  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Other:

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if required.
