About Organization for Women Empowerment (OWE):

The Organization for Women Empowerment (OWE) was established in 2014 as a non-profit and development organization, registered with the NGO Department of the Ministry of Economy, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. OWE aims to help impoverished communities, particularly women, youth, and children, gain social, economic and political potency by raising awareness, building capacity, providing educational and vocational skills training, and creating professional opportunities. OWE is a women’s organization for women. OWE's learning experience as a development organization comes from its working association with communities in different areas of Afghanistan. More importantly, OWE is one of the successful organizations in the community, NGO Coordination Bureau, and region.

Job Descriptions:

The Project Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation and achievement of project objectives within the specified timeframe. The Project Manager will report to the Program Manager and work closely with project team members, partner organizations, government officials, and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Project Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop a detailed project work plan in consultation with the Program Manager.
  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of project activities according to the work plan.
  • Monitor project progress, identify problems, and propose solutions for effective implementation.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites, provide technical guidance, and support project beneficiaries.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, partner organizations, and beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and training sessions with stakeholders to ensure their active participation and ownership of project activities.
  • Liaise with relevant government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations to leverage resources and promote collaboration.
  1.  Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
  • Develop and implement a strong monitoring and evaluation framework to track project progress and outcomes.
  • Collect and analyze project data, prepare periodic reports, and contribute to project evaluations.
  • Ensure timely submission of project reports to the Program Manager and UNDP in accordance with established reporting requirements.
  1.  Capacity Building and Training:
  • Identify capacity development needs of project staff, partner organizations, and beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate and deliver capacity building initiatives, workshops, and training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of project stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to project staff and beneficiaries to promote effective project implementation.

Job Requirements:

A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in project management, preferably in the field of women empowerment, entrepreneurship, or economic development.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, business administration, development studies, or a related discipline). A master's degree would be an advantage.

Knowledge and understanding of the socio-economic context and challenges faced by women in Afghanistan, particularly in relation to entrepreneurship.

Proven experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

Strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and challenging environment.

Fluency in English and Dari/Pashto (both written and spoken).
