Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh) is a Swiss child welfare foundation that assists and protects vulnerable populations worldwide. Tdh has been working in Afghanistan since 1995 and carries out projects related to Child Protection, Access to Justice, Mother and Child Health, and Livelihood Programs in Kabul & Nangarhar provinces.

Job Descriptions:

Under the direct supervision of Project Manager, the Project Assistant will be responsible for supervising and supporting the implementation of health programs in a designated area, with a focus on doctors, nurses, nutrition, and vaccination services. This position will ensure the smooth delivery of healthcare services to women and children, adhering to national and international standards in the context of Afghanistan’s healthcare system. The role involves close collaboration with healthcare staff, community leaders, and local authorities to enhance the quality and accessibility of healthcare services in a culturally sensitive manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager in day-to-day management and projects implementation
  • Support the Child Protection Project Manager in ensuring the sound implementation of the project.
  • Ensure quality service delivery and support the MEAL Unit in identifying and collecting quality indicators.
  • Act as a focal point for monitoring of the referral system from the community to the project intervention.
  • Provide technical support to the technical staff of the CP project, including Social Workers, social Laminators, and community volunteers while visiting the CFSs/ CCCs.
  • To conduct supportive supervisions from CFSs and provide support to CP staff.
  • Write up the report, the supportive supervision report, and prepare the corrective action plan and do a close follow up of the action with CP staff.
  • Prepare Monthly and quarterly reports, analysis, or mapping of the CP context per direction of the Project Manager.
  • Ensure the delivery of collective CP staff time sheets and submit to the HR department to ensure timely payment of staff salaries.
  • Responsible for the office filing system and documentation.
  • Support with the preparation and organization of trainings, workshops, and other events.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree holder graduated from a recognized university in social sciences or a relevant field

Experience:

  • 3 years of working Experience in a supervisory position with national or international organizations in Afghanistan.
  • Experience in supervising teams, particularly in remote or challenging environments.
  • Pashto and Dari are essential and English (Working ability)
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets and budgeting).

Cultural Knowledge:

  • Excellent understanding of the region and its cultural aspects.

Networking and Communication:

  • Strong networking skills with the ability to engage various stakeholders effectively.

Initiative and Negotiation:

  • Capability to take initiative and demonstrate excellent negotiation skills.

Reporting: Proficient in report writing.

Contextual Understanding: Well-versed in the socio-political and cultural context of Afghanistan.
