Job Descriptions:

Main Responsibility

  • To participate in the implementation of the process for the procurement, stock management and dispensing of pharmaceutical products, in compliance with national and international regulatory constraints and in line with MdM’s good practice.
  • To supervise drugs dispensation in supported health facilities

Main Activities

  • Establishment of a quality supply system for medical items in accordance with MdM standards
  • In partnership with the pharmacy supervisor, participate in the analysis of needs and in the establishment of local/international orders.
  • Participate in the evaluation of potential local suppliers according to MdM standards upon request of pharmacy supervisor.
  • MdM Pharmacy management
  • Participate to the reception and inventory of local and international pharmaceutical product orders
  • Ensure good quality storage conditions of the drugs in line with standards
  • Implement and monitor pharmacy stock management tools.
  • Carry out monthly physical inventories of the MdM stocks
  • Manage the particular stocks of the mission according to MdM rules (emergency bags, PEP kits, first aid kit, ...).
  • In partnership with the pharmacy supervisor, ensure regular supplies to health facilities supported by MdM: prepare orders for resupplies/donations, draft transport documents, ensure delivery if necessary
  • Do regular visit to health facilities to ensure good activities progress
  • Support health staffs on pharmacy management tools utilization
  • Support health staffs on dispensing drugs on a qualitative way:
    • Respecting the prescription and the defined procedure
    • Provide written and oral information, explanations to patients on dosage, potential side effects, possible interactions, etc.
  • Organize training for health staffs according to identified needs
  • Communicate with the MdM pharmacy and medical supervisors to ensure the transmission of information on any problems encountered (dosage not supported by the patient, incomplete prescription, unavailable molecule, detection of poor quality / falsified / sub-standard products, etc.)
  • Pharmaceutical data analysis
  • Monitor and analyse health facilities drug’s consumptions
  • Participate in the quality review of practices by analysing prescriptions
  • Compile, analyse, and communicate pharmacy data
  • Reporting
  • Draft weekly activity reports to the pharmacy supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Faculty.
  • Three years of working experience with NGOs and INGOs in pharmacy management.  
  • Understand and use pharmacy management standards, procedures and pharmacy management tools.
  • Understand the management cycle of pharmaceutical products
  • Understand national and international tools and reference frameworks
  • Collect and analyse data, organize, classify and communicate information
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent knowledge of English, Dari and Pashto
  • Adapt communication to the audience
  • Know how to approach a cultural and social context.
  • Be diplomatic and flexible
  • Use the Office pack
  • Working experience with SAGA stock is an asset
