Job Descriptions:

WADAN is committed to improving reproductive health services and ensuring access to quality maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) care. The RH Officer will play a key role in coordinating, implementing, and monitoring reproductive health activities within the assigned project area.
The RH Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating RH interventions. This role requires close coordination with local health authorities, health facilities, community health workers, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of culturally appropriate and comprehensive reproductive health services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement RH work plans aligned with project objectives.
  • Support the integration of RH services into primary healthcare and community-based programs.
  • Ensure effective delivery of family planning, antenatal/postnatal care, safe delivery, and adolescent health services.
  • Coordinate with local health authorities, NGOs, and partners to strengthen RH service delivery.
  • Provide technical support to health workers and community-based RH initiatives.
  • Conduct training for healthcare providers, midwives, and community health workers.
  • Lead awareness campaigns on reproductive health, family planning, and maternal health.
  • Provide mentorship and on-the-job coaching to healthcare staff.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to RH services.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor service quality and address gaps.
  • Prepare reports for internal use and donor requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with health standards and WADAN’s organizational policies.
  • Work with community leaders to increase acceptance and utilization of RH services.
  • Engage with women and youth groups to address RH issues and cultural misconceptions.
  • Support efforts to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and reduce harmful traditional practices.

Safeguarding, PSEA, and Compliance

  • Ensure integration and implementation of Protection from Sexual Exploitation and
  • Abuse (PSEA), Child Safeguarding, and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) principles across all project activities.
  • Ensure staff and partners adhere to organizational policies, WHO requirements, and codes of conduct.
  • Report and address safeguarding concerns in line with established procedures.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Midwifery, Nursing, or a related field. Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in reproductive health programming, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Strong knowledge of RH policies, family planning, maternal health, and adolescent RH.
  • Experience in training healthcare providers and community health workers.
  • Familiarity with RH-related data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive health and gender issues with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Fluency in English and local languages (Pashto and Dari).

Working Conditions

  • The position requires travel to field locations.
  • Must be able to work in challenging environments and respond to urgent needs.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required depending on program demands.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and field realities.
