Serve Afghanistan is a British NGO with project activities in the regions of Kabul, Jalalabad, Laghman, Kandahar and Parwan. Our 130 Afghan staff is active in the field of disability and community development. Most of our projects have a long-term focus and therefore we value the continued training of our staff and seek to use the talents and optimize the capacities of each individual member of our teams.

Serve Afghanistan is currently working in 12 projects in 5 main sectors which are Inclusive Education for disabled children, Livelihood, Mother, Child Health & Nutrition, Mother Tongue Literacy and Disaster Management.

Main Duty: Perform all Laboratory Tests in a Health Center

Responsibilities

• Receive, label and analyze samples (blood, toxic, tissue etc.)
• Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings as per the requirement of the doctor.
• Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
• Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
• Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
• Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
• Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Accurate tests Reporting.
• Good Communication with all Health Staffs Specially with Doctor in reporting and interpreting the test results.
• Maintain confidentiality of any kind of tests undertaken of the patients.
• Monitor the chemicals and instruments for different kind of test and share it on time with relevant doctors to make plan and take proper and on time decision to procure and to dispose.
• Ensure cleanliness of the laboratory.

• Valid laboratory technician license.
• Degree in biology, chemistry or relevant field.
• Proven experience as Lab Technician or relevant position.
• Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipments and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards etc.)
• In depth knowledge of QHSE Systems, preventative measures and laboratory best practices
• Excellent physical condition and endurance.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems
• Ability to work autonomously and under pressure

Excellent Writing, Reading and Speaking in Dari, Pashto and English
