Mgtwell Consulting Services is an international development management consulting firm that was established in 2013. The firm is registered with the Government of Afghanistan and has been providing support to the international development and humanitarian sector for over a decade.
Job Summary
The Food Security Expert will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of food security and livelihood interventions. The role aims to improve household food security, resilience, and sustainable livelihoods among vulnerable communities in line with organizational and donor strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct food security, livelihood, and market assessments to identify needs, gaps, and opportunities.
Design and support implementation of food security and livelihood programs, including cash-based interventions, agriculture, livestock, and income-generation activities.
Provide technical guidance and capacity building to project teams and partners on food security approaches and best practices.
Ensure integration of cross-cutting themes such as gender, protection, climate resilience, and nutrition.
Monitor project progress, analyze data, and ensure activities meet donor and organizational standards.
Prepare technical reports, assessments, proposals, and donor updates related to food security programming.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders including government authorities, clusters, NGOs, and community representatives.
Support emergency response activities related to food insecurity, drought, displacement, or shocks.
Ensure compliance with humanitarian principles, safeguarding policies, and accountability standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Master degree in Agriculture, Food Security, Economics, Rural Development, Nutrition, or a related field.
Minimum [5] years of professional experience in food security, livelihoods, or agriculture programming.
Preferred Skills
Experience with cash-based programming and market-based approaches.
Familiarity with monitoring & evaluation frameworks.
Knowledge of local context and community-based approaches.
Proficiency in English; local language skills are a strong asset.
Strong knowledge of food security analysis tools (e.g., IPC, HEA, market assessments).
Experience working with humanitarian and development projects, preferably in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
Proven experience in proposal writing, reporting, and donor compliance.
Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
