About New Society Reconstruction & Development Organization (NSRDO)

NSRDO Background:

NSRDO is a youth-led organization founded in 2006, dedicated to empowering marginalized women, children, and people with disabilities across Afghanistan. We focus on uplifting vulnerable communities by addressing critical issues such as poverty, education, WASH, healthcare, and sustainable development. Guided by the belief that everyone deserves a fair chance at a better future, we work tirelessly to provide resources, support, and hope to those in need.

We also work in food & security, agriculture, emergency relief, nutrition, peacebuilding, livelihood, community infrastructure, and the defense of human rights. NSRDO commenced its operations in 2005. Since then, NSRDO has been operating in Kabul and other provinces of Afghanistan and has regional offices in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Bamyan, and Paktia Provinces, along with its head office in Kabul.
NSRDO was registered in the Ministry of Planning by decision no. (951) dated 25/6/1383 and entitled to work in the capital, Kabul, and other provinces. This is also reregistered in the Ministry of Economy by decision no. (598) dated 8/6/06. Additionally, the US Embassy, the European Commission, the Canadian Fund, UNPP, UNGM, MoLSA, MoMD, MoE, and MoPH all have NSRDO registered.

For over 20 years, we have collaborated with donors, volunteers, and partner organizations to create meaningful, lasting change. Our mission is to deliver immediate relief while implementing sustainable solutions that enhance the quality of life for future generations.

NSRDO operates solely in Afghanistan, aiming to transform itself into one of Afghanistan’s foremost- developed NGOs. Although it continues to respond to the needs of rural communities in order to improve their living condition and utilize the resource in a well and transparent manner. NSRDO endeavors to reach the most disadvantaged groups in Afghan society often under very difficult circumstances. Among those with whom NSRDO works are poor families, women, farmers, unemployed and the uneducated population across the country.

Job Description

The M&E Officer will be responsible for all Monitoring and Evaluation activities at the provincial level and support the coordination of data collection, compilation, consolidation, and analysis to track the projects' activities, monitor progress, and help impact measurement at the provincial level; as well as ensuring production of timely and quality monitoring reports. The Officer will report to the Project Manager/ M&E Manager.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the project activities are in line with Education program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Undertake specific monitoring visits to project areas regularly.
  • Identify performance gaps in program implementation and provide feedback
  • Develop and review monitoring reports and identify areas for improvement
  • Assist, coordinate, and provide technical support to the central M&E activities
  • Analyze data for summary and thematic reports on M&E findings, lessons learned, and success stories 
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation of program assignments in the province.
  • Support in standardizing monitoring and evaluation activities in the province.
  • Support in developing data collection methodology and tools.
  • Compile and update monthly output tracking sheets (M&E matrices), online reporting, and monthly M&E reports.
  • Support the social organizers and other provincial project teams to improve the quality of monitoring, evaluation, and accurate reporting, including training on M&E tools;
  • Support field staff to implement project-level assessments, baseline survey using ODK/ mobile data collection methods, outcome measurement, training, data entry, and analysis;
  • Support the use of digital-based data collection using mobile phones/tablets; conduct regular monitoring visits of projects’ activities and report monitoring findings with relevant staff to the central office.
  • Regularly monitor project activity and report the successes and challenges to the office.
  • Ensure the latest education policy of NSRDO has been fully considered in all phases of the project implementation in the province.
  • Ensure the quality of the education program through regular monitoring.
  • Ensure that Field Monitoring plans are achieved on time.
  • Develop M&E tools for gathering information/data from the field and keeping up-to-date data required for timely and quality reporting;
  • Develop monitoring and other required data collection forms in ODK/Kobo platforms.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and guiding staff under their supervision, in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Support and coordinate capacity-building and technical support activities to ensure assigned project activities are implemented per project guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is as per agency and donor requirements.
  • Identify challenges in the implementation of project activities with the team and offer ideas for potential solutions.
  • Report monitoring data promptly to the relevant program and managerial staff.
  • Support in data management and development of clear information flow between the program and monitoring and evaluation staff, as required

Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Science, Economics, Educational Leadership or any other related field (Master’s degree is preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in similar positions in the Education Program with national and international NGOs.
  • Excellent Pashto and Dari reading, writing, and verbal skills. Fluent in English, reading, writing, and verbal skills.
  • Travel – The position will be based in the province with frequent travel to the districts. Ability to travel throughout the country;
  • Efficiency, result-oriented, and excellent management capabilities;
  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues responsibly and maturely;
  • Excellent capacity development and teamwork skills; cross-cultural and gender sensitivity;
  • Respect the confidentiality of the organization;
  • Ability to use information technology effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel, Access a plus)
