Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.

Job Description
Position Title: Technical Assistant
1. Background
Hospitals and health facilities operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Public Health Afghanistan require technical and operational support to ensure efficient implementation of health services. The Technical Assistant supports hospital management and technical teams by assisting in program coordination, monitoring activities, documentation, and reporting.

3. Reporting Line
The Technical Assistant reports directly to the Hospital Director / Health Technical Manager / Technical Supervisor.
4. Purpose of the Position
To provide technical and administrative support to hospital management and program teams in implementing health services, ensuring proper documentation, monitoring activities, and supporting reporting requirements.
5. Key Duties and Responsibilities
5.1 Technical Support
- Assist in implementing hospital programs and technical activities.
- Support supervisors and technical staff in program implementation.
- Help ensure activities are conducted according to national health guidelines.
5.2 Monitoring and Supervision Support
- Assist in monitoring health services and operational activities.
- Participate in supervision visits within hospital departments.
- Support data collection and analysis for service monitoring.
5.3 Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain records of hospital activities and program implementation.
- Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of meetings, trainings, and activities.
5.4 Coordination
- Support coordination between hospital departments and staff.
- Assist in communication between hospital management and health workers.
- Support coordination with district or provincial health authorities when required.
5.5 Training and Capacity Support
- Assist in organizing staff trainings, workshops, and meetings.
- Support preparation of training materials and documentation.
- Help monitor training activities and participation.
5.6 Logistics and Administrative Support
- Support monitoring of supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Assist in preparing technical documents and presentations.
- Provide administrative support for program activities.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Management, Medicine, Nursing, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in health programs or hospital settings.
- Experience working with BPHS or EPHS programs is preferred.
7. Skills and Competencies
- Good understanding of health programs and hospital operations
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Good organizational and coordination abilities
- Basic data analysis and monitoring skills
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
8. Working Conditions
- Full-time hospital-based position.
- May require participation in supervision visits and meetings.
- Occasional field visits within the district or province.
9. Performance Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated by the Hospital Director / Technical Supervisor based on:
- Quality of technical support
- Accuracy and timeliness of reports
- Coordination and communication effectiveness
- Contribution to program implementation
