We work with families, communities and health workers in homes, clinics and hospitals to promote basic health in order to save lives of children and mothers

Job Descriptions:

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)
The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working  in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a police check  will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).

ROLE PURPOSE
As part of our CO humanitarian strategy for 2024, Save the Children CO wants to improve the efficient deployment of high-quality staff to support the delivery of our Humanitarian Responses directly and in collaboration with SCI partners. This role will be rapidly deployed by the CO to support the response team in quickly developing and implementing a humanitarian-response. The overall purpose of this position to provide psychosocial activities for beneficiaries. As part of the provision of urgent medical services to the most affected population.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
•    Depending on the wishes of the beneficiary, lead 1:1 support sessions or group sessions based on the themes of mental wellbeing, caring for caregivers, stress management, parenting skills, where to find help if necessary and others where appropriate
•    Be able to identify groups of individuals who are more vulnerable and in need of psychological support.
•    Observe and collect information about the needs of beneficiaries in mental health during program activities.
•    Report and share information collected in the field to your direct line manager.  
•    Technical support to beneficiaries of transmission and awareness methods
•    Empowerment and motivation of beneficiaries vis-à-vis the transmission of information provided by the program.
•    Know how to lead and motivate the beneficiaries during focus group discussion.
•    Observe and analyze the content of message gathered during group session and evaluate it using an evaluation grid.
•    Facilitate role play sessions with beneficiaries by allowing the expression of all participants.
•    Facilitate awareness sessions during deployments.
•    Conduct activities for mothers and children according to their needs.
•    Encourage beneficiaries to participate in exchange and participation of beneficiaries.
•    Evaluate the content of each workshop, analyze it and report it using the evaluation grids.
•    Where appropriate, carry out group discussions with beneficiaries in order to follow up on recommendations made previously -refer to case management support or refer to medicalized support if appropriate
•    Identifies barriers to access (especially for women) and works with the Head of MHT and Community Mobilization Assistant to remove said barriers
•    Arrange and coordinate and follow up case management formalities (with Save the Children’s case management team) such as consent form, intake form, referral form and reporting 
•    Establishes and maintains good working relation with BPHS/EPHS implementers and concerned stakeholders for referral pathways
•    Builds trustful relationships with communities with a particular emphasis on women and girls 
•    Establishes and maintains a good recording and filling system
•    Report Child Safeguarding and/or sexual exploitation cases as and when they are observed
•    Performs any other relevant task assigned by line supervisor 
Non-deployment activities:
•    Participate in the development of educational materials and adapt them according to the target audience.
•    Conduct training sessions for community health workers on psychosocial support and counselling techniques.
•    Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in mental health and psychosocial support.
•    Collaborate with other health and nutrition staff to integrate psychosocial support into broader health initiatives.
•    Develop and refine protocols and guidelines for psychosocial support interventions.
•    Analyse and report on trends in mental health needs and service utilization.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    Graduation from an intermediate medical institute, an institute of medical sciences or a nursing school 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Ability, Characteristics and Skills:
•    Having a kind and friendly personality 
•    Sufficient health and sufficient strength for work
•    It has played a worthy and active role in in-service training and training for community health workers
•    Necessary qualities (cordiality, tolerance, prudence)
Essential: 
•    Must be female
•    Bachler degree in psychology or diploma in psychosocial counselling or midwife or nurse with knowledge about psychosocial counselling 
•    Experience in community or facility based psychosocial support
Desirable:
•    Training on mental health and psychosocial counselling is a must; 
•    Fluency in written and spoken local languages and working knowledge;
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
•    Ability and willingness to travel to rural locations in province;
•    Ability to work alongside others under stressful conditions in conflict-prone situations.
