Job Descriptions:

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)
Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting the country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: As part of our CO humanitarian strategy for 2024, Save the Children CO wants to improve the efficient deployment of high-quality staff to support the delivery of our Humanitarian Responses directly and in collaboration with SCI partners. This role will be rapidly deployed by the CO to support the response team in quickly developing and implementing a humanitarian-response. The overall purpose of this position is to manage, examine, prescribe medicines, and refer serious and complicated cases to other health facilities if necessary, during an emergency In the event of a significant humanitarian emergency, the post-holder will be expected to work outside their normal job description; vary their working hours; and occasionally work from a different location should the need arise.
The post holder is required to carry out their duties following SCI Health and Safety policies and procedures and our Global Security policy and procedures.

Role Dimensions:
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Description of medical duties: (For Female Clients)
•    Providing immediate medical care to individuals affected by the emergency, such as trauma, injuries, or acute medical conditions.
•    Assessing and triaging patients to prioritize care based on the severity of their condition.
•    Stabilizing and treating patients with life-threatening injuries or medical emergencies.
•    Coordinating with other healthcare professionals and first responders to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
•    Communicating with patients and their families to provide information and support during a crisis.
•    Administering medications, performing medical procedures, and providing emergency interventions as needed.
•    Making rapid clinical decisions under pressure to save lives and minimize the impact of the emergency.
•    Collaborating with emergency response teams to set up medical treatment areas and field hospitals if necessary.
•    Providing medical expertise and guidance to emergency management personnel and public health officials.
•    Participating in debriefings and follow-up care for patients after the immediate emergency has passed

•    Team Lead at the Health Facility Level
•    ERT-Health and Nutrition Coordinator and H&N Program Manager at the CO
•    Representative of the Ministry of Public Health 

Prohibitions:
•    Expressing opinions or representing SCI without the consent of the responsible person.
•    Using the property of SCI for personal use.
•    In an abnormal state due to the use of drugs or alcohol.
•    Other prohibitions are fully recorded in the Disciplinary Policy
Non-Deployment activities
•    Provide technical support to existing CO programs remotely and through in-country visits.
•    Contribute to joint business development activities between the Emergency Health Unit and PDQ. 
•    Support health/nutrition-related operational research as required. 
•    Any other tasks assigned through ERT initiatives.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential: 
•    Graduate from recognized medical faculty (within or outside the country) with a certified diploma by MoPH-GDHR, exit exam confirmation.
•    Have 2 years of experience in health clinics or Emergencies response
Desirable:
•    Ability to work alongside others under stressful conditions in conflict-prone situations or emergencies
•    Effective self-organizational, time management, and prioritization skills. 
•    Good administrative abilities, Good communication, and counselling skills, proven knowledge of national languages, honest and kind personality; 
Additional job responsibilities :
In the event of a significant humanitarian emergency, the post-holder will be expected to work outside their normal job description; vary their working hours; and occasionally work from a different location should the need arise.
