Urban Health Initiative
The USAID‐funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve the health outcomes of
people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women children and other
vulnerable populations.
Interventions aim to increase demand, access, and quality of health services. Led by Jhpiego and
implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in
Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar‐e‐ Sharif, Jalalabad, and Kandahar.
Position Overview
The anesthesia technician will be based in Kandahar MRH and will work under the supervision of the Cluster
Manager to support OBS/GYN OT especially for complicated/SC cases of MLMCC/OBSGYN.

Key duties and responsibilities:
Works based on planned schedule of the OBSGYN ward.
Data collection of the patient based on JD, related guidelines and forms
Support anesthesiology on all planned activities
Take care of all instruments and related to anesthesia and surgery.
Preparing list of consumables related to anesthesia
Preparing and care of emergent equipment’s, regulating cabinet in recovery room and OT
Regulate and preparing needed equipment’s and instruments for OT and recovery room
Participate in internal meetings based on need.
Any other task assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
Required
• Nurse or MD
• At least 1‐2 years of experience as anesthesia technician
• Previous experience in competency‐based training and supportive supervisory roles is
advantageous
• Ability of speaking and writing on local language and can understanding English
• Ability to work with the team
