Job Descriptions:

Key Responsibilities

To maintain complete and accurate books of accounts in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles and British charity act SORP and maintain complete oversight of the general and subsidiary accounting ledgers.

  • Oversee the financial management of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, treasury, and financial reporting.
  • Implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Manage the organisation's financial systems and processes, treasury, donor reporting, and accounts receivable.
  • Support the Operations Director in providing strategic financial guidance to the executive team and board of directors in decision-making and planning.
  • Lead the annual audit process and ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to key stakeholders.
  • Manage the organization's Operations functions, including facilities management and IT support.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support efficient and effective administrative operations.
  • Oversee the organization's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to finance and administration.
  • Provide leadership and support to the finance and administration team, including coaching, motivation and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other senior management to support the overall mission and strategic objectives of the organisation.

 

Job Requirements:

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education & Professional Qualification

CCAB Recognised ACCA/ CIMA/ACA qualified / Diploma in Charity Accounting / CIPFA Certificate in Charity Finance & Accounting or substantial equivalent experience or Academic Degree at master’s level.

Work Experience

Strong practical/applied understanding of charity finance and the management of restricted and unrestricted income, demonstrated experience in team management, including financial and administrative oversight of a Unit or Department. A minimum ten-year track record of increasingly responsible experience within international Development management, with at least seven years in senior positions.

  • Excellent written English skills, with a demonstrable ability to write and lay out high quality documents and reports for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in budget development, monitoring & control as well as financial reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills able to distil key ideas with clarity and precision.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuasively present ideas.
  • Ability to lead and influence others with diplomacy and tact.
  • High-level proficiency in relevant ERP software packages and office applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, PowerPoint and Outlook.
