Job Descriptions:

Position Summary:

AIC and its partner IBKO are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Control Officer to oversee and manage the control functions of our Lead & Zinc mining project. The successful candidate will be an industrial expert with a strong background in mining operations, project management, and regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

 

Project Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion of project milestones.

Budget and Cost Management:

  • Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets.
  • Analyze project costs and manage cost variances to ensure project financial goals are met.

Risk Management:

  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Implement and monitor risk management plans throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular quality audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure project activities comply with all relevant mining regulations and industry standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required documentation to MoMP and local authorities

echnical Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, budgets, reports, and change logs.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Collaborate with project managers, team members, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Industrial Engineering; a Master’s degree or professional certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in project management or project control roles, with a focus on mining projects.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale industrial or mining projects..
  • Computer skills (MS Office package)
  • Proficiency in English and other local languages (writing & speaking).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of mining operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to analyze complex project data and make informed decisions.

 

Technical Proficiency:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing the mining industries in Afghanistan, including environmental regulations, safety standards, and operational permits.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively liaising with regulatory authorities, external counsel, and internal stakeholders.
  • Quality Management Tools: Six Sigma, Lean, or similar quality management methodologies.

Project Management Tools: MS Project, Primavera, or similar project management software.
