Job description of the General Manager of Guest House and Restaurant:
This is important in your job when you enter the operational part. General managers are the ones responsible for hiring/firing employees, training programs, public relations and marketing, process optimization, etc., and consider them as the manager of your restaurant.

Duties & Responsibilities
•    To ensure that guests are greeted, checked in and allocated to rooms promptly and courteously.
•    To be readily available at all times to deal with problems or complaints.
•    To supervise and support staff, such as cooks and housekeepers, and direct their daily duties.
•    To ensure that rooms have been serviced and maintained to the standards laid down by the Company.
•    To ensure all food is stored correctly and adequate checks are carried out.
•    To ensure a menu of healthy, varied and satisfying choices is prepared and served.
•    To ensure effective and speedy check-out facilities.
•    To ensure that luggage is delivered to and collected from rooms speedily.

•    To ensure that enquiries, messages are dealt with courteously and efficiently.
•    To ensure that all staff are correctly and smartly dressed at all times.
•    To ensure that all areas are clean and tidy at all times.

•    To ensure that incoming and outgoing telephone calls are handled promptly and courteously.
•    To carry out systematic checks of all areas for maintenance requirements, repairs or refurbishing, ensuring that these are actioned without delay.
•    To carry out or ensure that regular On-the-Job training is taking place to agreed standards.
•    To ensure maximum security in all areas.
•    To circulate regularly throughout all areas, maintaining a high profile with guests and staff.
•    To ensure accurate and timeous submission of all reports and administrative work.
•    To check the guest house areas for cleanliness before guests arrive, table layout and stipulated specific requirements to enable shortcomings to be rectified.
•    To ensure that the service of food and drink is courteous and professional.
•    To maintain high standards of morale and personal appearance of all staff.
•    To ensure that all stocks and supplies are timeously requested, correct stock levels maintained and stored under optimum conditions.
•    To prepare and submit, on the required format, all information necessary for budgeting purposes.
•    To provide effective leadership through professional man-management and encouragement of subordinates.

•    To compile menus and calculate costs thereof for daily and special requirements.

•    To be continually aware of and maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress.

•    To ensure that hygiene standards in all areas, i.e. kitchen, stores, dining room, etc., far exceed commonly accepted standards.

•    Keeping track of lodging inventory and cleanliness. Additional professional duties include maintaining records of incoming and outgoing guests, double-checking guest house maintenance work, and attending to guests\' personal requests. These duties are important because they ensure that everything around the guest house runs efficiently.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor degree in business related field is required.

Minimum 5 years experience in Guest House Management. Experience in hospitality and hotel management is a plus.

The working time of the manager is 24 hours.


•    Computer Skills like Office and Internet.

  • Complete proficiency in speaking Dari and Pashto
