ActionAid-Afghanistan committed itself a long-term work with poor and excluded sections of the society through the Human Rights Based Development Approach, WASH, and livelihood programs in multiple provinces of Afghanistan.
Job Summary: ActionAid Afghanistan, a part of the global ActionAid federation, has been working in Afghanistan since 2002, focusing on poverty alleviation, human rights, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and livelihood programs. The organization is seeking a Cook & Cleaner to manage both meal preparation and office cleanliness. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving meals for office staff and guests, ensuring that the kitchen is clean and organized. Additionally, they will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the office, including cleaning common areas, washing dishes, and ensuring a hygienic environment. The role also involves managing tea/coffee stations and purchasing food and kitchen supplies. The ideal candidate should have good cooking skills, the ability to maintain cleanliness, and knowledge of food handling and hygiene. Previous experience in similar roles within NGOs or INGOs is an advantage, and basic English skills would be beneficial. The candidate should also be willing to learn new recipes and perform general cleaning duties as needed.

Responsible for Cooking & serving meal for staff in the office. • Working within Action Aid Afghanistan Administration guidelines regarding current health safety and hygiene legislation. • Ensure all the tea/coffee stations are equipped with adequate boiled water, coffee, milk and sugar on daily basis. • Keep cooking material clean and handle with care • Purchase daily and weekly food material • Prepare, cook and serve food in accordance with defined standards and quality • Purchase kitchen dishes, when required. • Perform all the requirements of a Cook, such as washing the dishes, cleaning the kitchen and all other requirements. • Serve food and tea for office guests. • Cook foods and meals with required quality and ensure inclusion of vegetables as per the season
Ability to write and read • Previous 2/3 years experience in a similar role with any NGO or INGO is an advantage • Good cooking skills, especially in preparing Afghan local foods
