About War Child:

War Child flagship Afghanistan program advances social impact in the lives of vulnerable children, women and their families through its Justice, Education and Opportunity programs with child protection and gender across all its programs. The Afghanistan Country Program is currently undergoing an exciting expansion with newly secured long-term funding for programs in eight provinces Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kundoz, Takhar, Logar and Badakhshan, and will expand its program to other new provinces.

Job Descriptions:

  Position Summary:

The Social Mobilizer will work in the community to serve as a bridge between the community and MYC mobilize and sensitize communities and raise awareness about the services being provided at MYC through regular meetings with community people, religious and prominent leaders, Ulema, Mullah Imams, and youths and adolescents to MYCs for registration and service provision and coordinate with local level authorities. This role also includes providing information on available services linking Girls with MYC activities and services and facilitating and promoting referral mechanisms.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Mobilize and sensitize communities, and raise awareness about MYC services
  • Connect communities with MCHC services (work as a bridge between the community and MYCs)
  • S/he will be responsible for the identification, referral and registration of youths and adolescents in multipurpose youth centers
  • Communicate and coordinate with DFA authorities and community people at the local level on MYC activities and services
  • Assist the project team in mapping of other service providers in the targeted communities/ districts and update the mapping on regular bases
  • Mapping of available services in the targeted communities and strengthening the referral pathways
  • Coordinate and communicate with DFA as a male representative on behalf of female MYC
  • Contribute in identification of marketable vocations based on labor/market survey and selection of vocational training approaches such apprenticeship, life skills or etc.
  • Support the BDS counsellor in VT training program in the local communities
  • Conduct meetings with local stakeholders including CDC, shuras etc.  
  • Assist the project team in conducting coordination meetings within district authorities and community people
  • Provide updates and required information to the project team.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports and submit to
  • Perform any project-related tasks assigned by supervisors

Job Requirements:

Qualification:

Academic Background and Knowledge/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in relevant disciplines (e.g., Social Work, Social Science, research methods, education etc) with 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Grader 12th certificate: with 3-5 your years working experience in social work/ community mobilization
  • Additional qualification or certification of Social Work, community mobilization

  Skills:

  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of community development especially working with children, women, youths, adolescents etc
  • Excellent social work and community mobilization skills
  • Experience working with different communities with different cultures and protection services in the field.
  • Culture sensitive, respect for local norms and keep confidentiality
  • Excellent computer, MS office skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
