About Water Aid for Afghanistan (WAFA):

The Water Aid for Afghanistan (WAFA) is a national non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and humanitarian organization working in Afghanistan since 1994. The organization was initially registered as NGO with the Ministry of Planning and further registered in February 2006 with Ministry of Economy at NGO Department of the former Islamic Republic of Afghanistan under registration number 377.

The organization is professionally managed by a group of committed and young professional Afghans having multiple years of experience with governmental and non-governmental organization in Afghanistan and abroad.

Beside, WAFA works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. WAFA also has close relation with the Ministry of Justice to empower and facilitate the street children in the light of the applicable laws and procedures. WAFA has extensive experience with IDP’s and returnees by providing them basic education, WASH facilities, hygiene education, Livelihood and health facilities with collaboration of Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation. 

The Organization has a regional coverage through undertaking various Educational (Community Based Education (CBE), Teacher Training, Formal and informal, accelerated learnings, Civic Education,  Awareness Raising (Legal Rights, Advocacy, Women Rights, Child Protection, Support to Electoral Process, Elimination of violation against women, Human Rights, Social Services programs, Water and agricultural programs, Universities Electricity Installation and upgradation, Projects in different sectors for Afghan Refugees/Returnees and local communities in Afghanistan

Job Descriptions:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Mobilize the target communities to project intervention, procedures and policies and to inspire them to actively play their role in the promotion of project aims.

In close collaboration with Project Manager and M&E Officer

  1. Conduct baseline surveys on community and develop and implement community mobilization plan;
  2. Implement activities related to community mobilization.
  3. Capable of conducting trainings to Community elders, Mullas, government employees and school teachers
  4. Inspires the sense of contribution, participation and self-reliance in the target communities;
  5. Establishes and develops good mutual understanding, cooperation and trust between the project and the target communities;
  6. Maintains good working relations with authorities and related stakeholders. 
  7. Work with families to support the women and other beneficiaries in the targeted areas to follow and complete the awareness sessions.
  8. Work with community for conducting awareness sessions
  9. Support Center Supervisor to improve quality of trainings;
  10. Prepare report of the Awareness session at the end of each session
  11. Collect community mobilization and distribution of food packages and assists Project Manager in data analysis and interpretation and report development
  12. Collect and compiles community mobilization, establishment and performance, and training sessions’ related data;
  13. Submit community mobilization, monitoring, training, and observation information to project supervisor.
  14. Assist project staff in data collection, screening and compilation for the reports preparation. 
  15. Assists Project/Field Supervisor in the development of provincial program scope.
  16. Assists Project Supervisor in developing project implementation plans

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and experience

  • University degree in management or development fields strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in community level, including at least two years working in an NGO. 
  • Prefers if he/she has one-year experience as master trainer
  • Facilitation, consulting, and/or training experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills to negotiate and influence the community people.
  • Good communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening.
  • Ability to set priorities for field level activities and manage then effectively.
  • Fluency in the two main Afghan languages, Pashto & Dari (writing, speaking and comprehension).
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
  • Computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet and e-mail skills required.
  • Professionalism in appearance and demeanor.
