About Water Aid for Afghanistan (WAFA):

The Water Aid for Afghanistan (WAFA) is a national non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and humanitarian organization working in Afghanistan since 1994. The organization was initially registered as NGO with the Ministry of Planning and further registered in February 2006 with Ministry of Economy at NGO Department of the former Islamic Republic of Afghanistan under registration number 377.

The organization is professionally managed by a group of committed and young professional Afghans having multiple years of experience with governmental and non-governmental organization in Afghanistan and abroad.

Beside, WAFA works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. WAFA also has close relation with the Ministry of Justice to empower and facilitate the street children in the light of the applicable laws and procedures. WAFA has extensive experience with IDP’s and returnees by providing them basic education, WASH facilities, hygiene education, Livelihood and health facilities with collaboration of Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation. 

The Organization has a regional coverage through undertaking various Educational (Community Based Education (CBE), Teacher Training, Formal and informal, accelerated learnings, Civic Education,  Awareness Raising (Legal Rights, Advocacy, Women Rights, Child Protection, Support to Electoral Process, Elimination of violation against women, Human Rights, Social Services programs, Water and agricultural programs, Universities Electricity Installation and upgradation, Projects in different sectors for Afghan Refugees/Returnees and local communities in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

Support the formulation and implementation of project communications and advocacy strategies, supports business development focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Implementation of the Project publications; provides inputs, content development, coordination of production and dissemination of the publications, articles and sharing of project knowledge and successes.
  • Provision of inputs and information for elaboration of project communication strategy based on the organization and donor mandate.
  • Support to increased awareness of WAFA mandate and goals through dissemination of information, organization of public events
  • In coordination with supervisor development and preparation of materials for awareness-raising including briefing materials and other cross cutting issues of the WAFA branding policy
  • Organization of publicity, advocacy, knowledge-sharing events and promotional opportunities. Provision of logistics support to the events,
  • Review of reference materials, identification of reference materials for retention. Maintenance of information database and project photo gallery.
  • Organization and implementation of the project awareness and information events and campaigns.
  • Prepare trainings materials and successful delivery of the advocacy and networking trainings to the target communities and CSOs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that the appropriate information and messages are reaching the public, including awareness brochures and leaflets and other IEC materials.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase and improve the public outreach for the project intended objectives and goal.
  • Prepare (script writing) promotional material on the project, including pamphlets, videos, etc.
  • Prepare communication reports and other information reports for Project Management Team review and approval.
  • Organization of training for the staff on effective communications and advocacy. Lead the process of knowledge for disseminating at all levels and produced documents that capture the right stakeholders and production of knowledge-based products.
  • Organize internal and external networks or communities of practice covering community influential bodies, and other prominent experts and individuals
  • Provide support to organization of workshops, seminars, training and delivery of outputs (products).
  • Perform other duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from reputed university in Mass Communications & Journalism, Media Studies, Communications Strategy or LLB
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience at the national level in providing communication packages to promote the activities of organization, preferably a development organization.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and graphic designing. Experience in handling of web-based management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Language Requirements: Spoken and written fluency in English and other local languages.
