Job Description

•    Overview:
The Journalist Case Investigator will be responsible for managing the investigation and documentation of Afghan journalists' cases, particularly those in Pakistan, Iran, and other countries. This role involves reviewing submitted information, verifying work history and threats faced by journalists, and ensuring accurate data entry into the organization's database system. The position requires close coordination with Afghan journalists, journalist support organizations, and internal departments to gather and maintain comprehensive case records. Additionally, the role includes organizing meetings with local colleagues to discuss and address relevant cases.

Key Responsibilities:
1.    Database System Management:
•    Responsible for reviewing documents and information submitted by Afghan journalists in Pakistan, Iran, and other countries.
•    Conduct thorough investigations into the submitted information regarding the work history and threats faced by Afghan journalists.
•    Ensure communication and coordination with Afghan journalists and journalist support organizations to gather accurate information.
•    Coordinate with the database department and other relevant sections to register and log journalists' cases.
•    Organize meetings with local colleagues.
•    Provide reports to the Afghanistan Journalists Support Organization and Reporters Without Borders.
 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or social sciences.
  • Work experience: At least 2 to 5 years in investigation, research, or journalism.
  • Familiarity with investigative methods, knowledge of freedom of expression issues, and an understanding of the journalism community in Afghanistan.
  • Proficiency in computers and investigative research tools.
