Bakhter Development Network (BDN) was established and officially registered in Afghanistan in 2001 as an Afghan non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and developmental organization. BDN operates in accordance with its constitution in three main thematic areas: health, education, and agriculture and livestock. With its current focus on public health and nutrition, BDN helps communities achieve their developmental goals, while its wider vision is a world of enabled communities working towards a brighter future.

Currently, BDN is engaged in multiple initiatives, including the Health Emergency Response Additional Financing (HER AF) project in Balkh, Maidan Wardak, and Kapisa Provinces. BDN is also implementing projects such as the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP), the Community-Based Nutrition Intervention (CBNI) in Balkh, Badakhshan, and Kunduz Provinces, as well as the GC 7 project in Balkh and Maidan Wardak Provinces.

Job Descriptions:

This role involves overseeing nursing care services, maintaining proper records of supplies, supervising clinic activities, and ensuring timely reporting. Responsibilities also include holding regular meetings with key personnel, providing training to staff, addressing issues related to patient care, and participating in management meetings. Close collaboration with the hospital administration and support to the clinic staff are key aspects of this position.

  • Ensure a regular and appropriate schedule is maintained for nursing care services.
  • Accurately record and monitor the inventory of supplies and consumption within the clinic.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member to address and resolve staff issues.
  • Hold regular meetings with health nurses to discuss progress and operational matters.
  • Collect, verify, and submit HIS reports in a timely manner.
  • Motivate and provide support to clinic staff to enhance performance.
  • Hold weekly meetings with the hospital director and medical director to discuss overall progress.
  • Supervise all clinic activities and address any related problems that arise.
  • Provide immediate reports on any suspected epidemic diseases.
  • Submit monthly reports on program activities to the management team.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for technical subordinates to enhance their skills.
  • Identify areas for improvement and upgrading of skills in the nursing department.
  • Prepare staff duty schedules to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Report on the number of delayed admissions and patient discharges.
  • Maintain close coordination with the Administrator, Medical Director, and Hospital Director.
  • Participate in all management and nursing-related meetings to stay informed and contribute.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Hospital Director and Nursing Advisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related medical field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience in managing clinic operations is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills to ensure efficient nursing care.
  • Proficiency in health information systems (HIS) reporting and record-keeping.
  • Ability to conduct on-the-job training and mentor nursing staff.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in local languages (Pashto and Dari) is required. Proficiency in English is an advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel) and health management systems is desirable.
  • Personal Attributes: The candidate should be proactive, supportive, and able to motivate staff. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Physical and Mental Fitness: Must be physically fit and able to manage the demands of the job. Should demonstrate strong ethical standards and integrity.
  • Other Requirements: The candidate should have a problem-solving mindset and be flexible in carrying out additional duties as required by the hospital management.
