Job Descriptions:

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 
Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people on a regular basis because s/he will collect stories and interviews from the field.
ROLE PURPOSE: 
The GPE Informationa and Communication Coordinator will develop and implement a communications plan for Afghanistan’s GPE consortium. This will involve collecting contents (stories, images, videos, etc.), producing and managing GPE consortium communication products and materials.

Reports to: Senior Communications Manager

Role Dimensions: 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
•    Support Consortium programme in development and implementation of the GPE consortium communications Plan.
•    Support in organizing media and communications events for the GPE programme at national provincial levels.
•    Support in pro-actively identifying and collecting case studies and success stories (including photo and video content) from programmes across eight provinces /emergency situation by building close relations to all key sectors of consortium and staying abreast of all activities. 
•    Support in documenting, managing, and sharing lessons learned, success stories and case studies for a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring messages achieve maximum impact and are consistent with consortium and Save the children brands.
•    Monitor the humanitarian media and communication activities and support donor monitoring visits.
•    Develop messaging, and write and edit content for a range of purposes.
•    Participate in interagency meetings with donors and national stakeholders. 
•    Maintain regular and proactive communication with consortium member organisations. 
•    Compile and update all emergency situation report information in close coordination with the GPE provincial team.
•    Produce a quarterly newsletter about GPE activities along with other monthly updates for the consortium.
•    Train programme staff (both SC-AF and partners) on developing case studies and success stories.
•    Travel to provinces 50% and Kabul office 50%.
•    Edit photos and videos while adhering to branding policies. 
•    Upload content to the asset library, ensuring all content and metadata adheres to our global Content Hub guidelines and proper signing-off process. 
•    Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor. 
•    Strict adherence to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding policies

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS
•    Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, social sience or other related field, Development Studies, International Relations, English or relevant field experience 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 
Essential
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience with national or an international organisations.
•    Proven strong photography skills
•    Experience in interviewing children and adults and developing case studies/impact stories 
•    Excellent skills in spoken and written English. Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto  
•    Willingness to travel regularly to all provinces and field offices of Afghanistan for regular work, emergency assessment and response
•    Proven organisational skills including coordination, ability to juggle multiple demands, manage shifting priorities, and negotiate timelines. 
•    Very good communication and interpersonal skills
•    Good conceptual and analytical as well as creative thinking
•    Proven advanced skills in Word, excel, PowerPoint and graphic design software.
•    Proven skills in video and photo editing and experience using Premiere Pro
•    Experience of conducting training 

Desirable
•    Experience with child and/or women focused programming

Additional job responsibilities
